Pics of the New POLO release for PC4

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Finally, must sleep. As of now, I have done little else than assemble carts, boxes, fold manuals, ect. They look amazing. I put some shots on the web. Click on them if you want to see bigger ones. Sorry about the popups.

Would love to hear some feedback. My wife is supportive, but so far, she and the dog are the only ones to see them. :)

these will go like hotcakes! Man those are some sweet packages! I'm going to have to create a whole new Stan Award just for this release! :D

I can't wait to see it in person! :)

Stan, I just now realized I'm the world's stupidest mo'fo. I could have GIVEN you the rap mix CD I made in person instead of mailing it to you, odds are you may not even get it in time before you head to the con. D'oh! :P

Thanks guys!

I know Osmeroid will love the feedback on his work, too :)

Now to try and make a few more for the show. Run em till yer out of eproms, my grammy used to say! (actually, she would not know one if it bit her).

Stan, I gotta tell you; that award was on my mind while we were doing these. They look fantastic. Can't wait to show everyone :)

On a side note, my wife is going to pick up Osmeroid at the airport today. Unfortunately, he forgot to give us his flight info, so we really have no idea when he is coming in, where he will be, what he looks like, etc. He's never been stateside, so the phone thing could be a problem. If anyone knows his flight info, would love to know it! :) Nutty Brit!

I'm more and more happy I asked Cassidy to put me on the list for a copy with each passing day. I think before I hit the plane for Philly I may get crazy-go-nuts with excitement thinking about this and all the other cool shit I'll be buying at the con. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :D

That looks sooooo cool. Unfortunately I will not be able to make it to the Philly Classic. How does one get on the pre-order list?

Have a great time y'all.

I have to say that I prefer the artwork that Dan Skelton did for the Stella CD v.1 because it used 1st generation styling.

Seeing a 2K game (albeit with the extra title sequence added) in post-crash Tramiel packaging looks very strange. It's nice and all, but it's weird.

We had a release last year with the 2K image (its on the Atariage database). I know what you mean about the styling, we just thought it would match nicely with the subject matter. The opening makes it period correct for red boxes too.

Cassidy

Thanks again guys for the support! It means a lot.

BY THE WAY>>>>>>>>>>>

We did get Osmeroid at the airport, and so far, has been a blast! I know he is looking forward to meeting you guys too. Remind him (like I need to tell you to!) what great looking boxes and manuals and labels these are!

How did you figure out when and where to pick him up ?

I'm sorry .. but I am not enthusiastic about the current red box/red manual/red label cart treatment of Polo. This dates from the later (late 1980s) Atari era ..

Polo was programmed in 1978 .. I reviewed the 1970s treatment that the Cyberpunks did for Polo some years ago .. and that looks much better to me.

I think that red labels (vintage and modern) are snazzy looking. An era accurate label would be text anyway and text labels just leave me cold. I love the new packaging and label. Plus, it makes this release (with the new title screen) distinct from last year's.
