82-T/A #1 Posted December 8, 2014 Hey guys, I see that B&C is selling Jack Nickolas's Cyber Golf. Any idea if this is completed? Has anyone played / purchased it? I'm interested in it.. (would LOVE a golf game for the Jaguar), just curious how complete / playable it is. It says that it's only a Demo. Thanks!
+save2600 #2 Posted December 8, 2014 Unless I'm mistaken, NO vendor besides Songbird has "completed" any Jag game and published it so. Unless advertised as otherwise, I'd assume anything by B&C is going to be a demo, beta, prototype, etc.

But often times, people will list it as a demo just so that you're not expecting a completed game. I was just curious how playable it actually is, if at all. Rick Dangerous #4 Posted December 8, 2014 Its programmed by the people who did awesome golf for the Lynx, so it can't be that bad. I hope it has a decent amount of content because I'm thinking of picking it up soon as well. Was just playing some Fred Couples on 32x with my GF tonight and also have PGA 96 on heavy rotation on my 3DO. Masters 12 on my Wii is my "modern" golf go-to. Willard #5 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Unless I'm mistaken, NO vendor besides Songbird has "completed" any Jag game and published it so. Unless advertised as otherwise, I'd assume anything by B&C is going to be a demo, beta, prototype, etc. What about the Battlesphere team? Also what games has songbird completed? I'm glad that Carl has ensured that these games aren't being indefinitely traded in private circles 'til the end of time (such as the realm of fighters) but most of them are buggy, unpolished, or incomplete. He did mess around with the protector engine a few times. Other than that, as far as I'm aware the games were floating around the community (sans the songbird logos) mostly as-is until he got the licenses. +save2600 #6 Posted December 8, 2014 Re: Battlesphere, 4Play were never vendors. They were a software team and musician that eventually finished the game they had been working on. My memory is probably hazy when it comes to specifics, but I thought when Carl secured the Protector game, it was only something like 60-70% complete. Again, the percentage range might be off, but he had to add a lot of the sound effects, music and graphics IIRC. I'm sure he'll expound on this soon... Rick Dangerous #7 Posted December 8, 2014 Please don't unless its about Jack Nicklaus Cyber Golf....lol To OP: the game is adverted as a proto so its not complete. Hoping someone who owns it can expound upon our queries.
Tempest #8 Posted December 8, 2014 If it's the same as this then it's a very early demo:
+Stephen Moss #9 Posted December 8, 2014 Not sure if it is 100% the same as the video as it has been a while since I played with it but as I recall you could get as far as hitting a shot and I thought there was a there was a side or overhead view of the ball in flight but that was about it, I don't think it was possible to finish a hole but as I said it has been a while but I don't recall there was much of it to play with. rayik #10 Posted December 8, 2014 Four different roms of Jack Nichols golf are available on jagware. You can load them on a skunkboard to check them out. See this topic: http://www.jagware.org/index.php?showtopic=1022. If you go to the ftp link they are found under the "hand made software" folder. The ones listed are very rough. You can hit the ball. No animations. No ball flying in air.

Rick Dangerous #13 Posted December 8, 2014 Wow....doesn't look like a super playable or necessary addition to a Jaguar Collection

JAGUAR #19 Posted December 10, 2014 It's "Nicklaus". The Jag does need a good golf and baseball game. Also, tennis.

JAGUAR #21 Posted December 10, 2014 Off you go then I'm far too lazy, and not quite smart enough to make a Jaguar game. You, on the other hand, excel at making Jaguar games.

Bill Loguidice #24 Posted December 10, 2014 That actually looked reasonably impressive even at that early state. It's definitely not worth a purchase as-is, but it would have been interesting to see it completed and polished, not that the latter was ever any guarantee with the Jaguar.
