lushgirl_80 #1 Posted December 28, 2014 I just recently got a boxed Famicom directly from Japan with a game(Urusei Yatsura No Wedding Bell). Drats however I am having trouble getting it to work :-/ For one it came with the funkiest looking RF box I've ever seen. If you thought the 4-port 5200 RF box was bad wait til you try figuring out the Famicom RF box lolz So after many attempts and reading a post from NintendoAge recommending using a regular NES RF box,I tried that, but still no signal. I tried channel 95....I tried every channel my TV has. Still no signal Could it be the Famicom I bought is broken? Or my TV just isn't picking up the Famicom signal at all? Help! CatPix #2 Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) Try to use a direct RF cable first - all those RF boxes you got are junk and were only useful in the 80's when you'd have to switch fast between the TV and the game. I think the Famicom is on channel UHF 96? Japanase TV system expand upper than US one. Edited December 28, 2014 by CatPix
TaskenLander #3 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Yes. Disregard that funky oldschool RF box and try using a NES RF cable. My Famicom wouldn't really play on Ch. 95 or 96 on my CRT TV but played okay-ish on my HDTV (on Ch. 95 or 96). I got the best signal from the Famicom going into a VCR, though; again on either Ch. 95 0r Ch. 96). In the end, though, the signal was still pretty crap so I opted to have it Composite modded by a member here to great success. Hope this helps. Best of luck. lushgirl_80 #4 Posted December 29, 2014 Thanks! I'll have to try connecting the Famicom to my VCR then. So how does that work? Do I use RCA cables???? I have it currently hooked up to the back of my small Sanyo TV using the regular NES RF but somehow still not getting a reception that way. I'll try the VCR way though, just tell me what cables to use.
TaskenLander #5 Posted December 30, 2014 Just connect the RF cable from the Famicom into 'RF IN' on the back of the VCR and go video out composite into your TV. Then you should just have to tune your VCR channels to either 95 or 96 and it should hopefully work. lemme know how it goes, Mike
