Tanrunomad #1 Posted December 28, 2014 Would there be any interest in a new game for the Entex Adventure Vision? If so, what type of game would you like to see for it?
carlsson #2 Posted December 28, 2014 A game based on deception. While those who own one might not want to see it go up in smoke, at least it already got the mirrors.
Atari_Bill #3 Posted December 28, 2014 I would think the owner base for this unit would be so extremely limited that a homebrew couldn't be justified. There can't be too many folks with one of these in their collection.
BinaryStar #5 Posted December 29, 2014 Anything would be good! But yeah, not exactly a large market. There has only been a homebrew demo (with source) released for it so far IIRC, pretty limited system but very cool display.
CatPix #6 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) I think before making a homebrew game, it would be best to make a homebrew system so there is a larger fanbase Except for the name itself, there should be no problems since it doesn't seem to have an internal proprietary ROM, so the console fall into the hardware patents. And they are more than 20 years old => whoever owns the right to Entex today can't oppose a new console to be recreated. If Entex went extinct without anyone caring about buying any copyright, assets, name or anything, someone could even make the console as it was, complete with the name. However, we couldn't reproduce the games, as they are all(except Space Force maybe) based on licenced titles. But heh. If anyone would be crazy enough to do this, it may be the first console that will get a larger library of homebrew games than original games And maybe over time, more reproduced console han original ones! carlsson #7 Posted December 29, 2014 I don't think a small user base should prevent anyone who has the desire to develop own software. Rather the opposite, in some parts of the demo scene it is preferred to be "first" about a certain effect or implementation on a foreign system. Indeed you can't expect to mass market your creations and hopefully make a buck or two, but then again I don't think that should be a motivating factor. Seriously, Flappy Bird probably is a good suggestion given the resolution of 150x40 pixels. The design of the system probably includes a set of interesting challenges to overcome for whoever goes ahead with programming something. I see that MEGA released sources and dev tools used for creating their demo, which might be a good starting point.
gliptitude #8 Posted March 17, 2016 A homebrew system would be awesome! .. This might be a bit farfetched but i think a great homebrew Adventure Vision game would be a primitive 3D game, like Night Driver, or a very basic rail shooter.
Pixelboy #9 Posted March 17, 2016 If the Zimba 3000 ever reaches the production/sales stage, perhaps we'll see some homebrews for the Adventure Vision.
