BurritoBeans
I know I could squeeze in a few more hours before the deadline, but I'll post this now Atari 2600 - Megamania - 14 minutes Night Stalker - 63 minutes Game Boy - Pokemon Yellow - 3 minutes PC (DOS) - NetHack - 3164 minutes Stunts - 14 minutes If you can't tell, I dumped all my time into NetHack this week. I don't know why but I can't drop the game. It just doesn't really get boring to me. Other than that, nothing really... I played a bit of some other games, and took some time to go for a jog and fly my quadcopters because I've been sitting around and being lazy for days. Overall, it was worth it.
+thegoldenband
My times for the week: Genesis: Gemfire - 420 min. SNES: Drakkhen - 614 min. Dungeon Master - 1 min. Mortal Kombat II - 61 min. Power Rangers Zeo Battle Racers - 65 min. Ren & Stimpy: Veediots! - 10 min. Super Bomberman: Panic Bomber World - 19 min. Super Tennis - 327 min. Suzuka 8 Hours - 15 min. Beat Drakkhen and Super Tennis this week. I've beaten Drakkhen twice before: once when it came out, and I think I beat it again with savestates around 2000. But it had been long enough that the game still felt reasonably fresh. Firing up the ol' SNES and hearing that pensive, ambient music is always a huge nostalgia trip. Not a great game, but still an old favorite. Super Tennis I definitely beat with savestates back in 2001, but this time I did it legitimately, which felt great. I might've taken it on sooner but I was concerned that I'd be helpless against the secret final opponent, Don J, who's a brick wall at the net and unbelievably fast. However, thanks to my matches against Brian -- a playable character who's the most dangerous adversary in the regular game -- I'd figured out how to handle that kind of player, and I was able to win 6-2 6-3 6-1, thanks in part to Don J's numerous double-faults (his one weakness). Great game in some ways, but once you get the hang of serving aces it's much too easy; I won most matches 6-0, even against Brian (eventually). After trying various other games, most of which were frustrating or dull, I fired up Gemfire for Genesis, which I've never really played before. I was expecting a typically tough and slow-moving Koei game, but it's surprisingly fast-paced and quite easy, thanks to a brain-dead CPU that has no idea how to win battles. After huddling in my small corner of the mythical realm for a while, I've broken out and now have about half the island conquered.

karokoenig
Atari 2600 Donald Duck's Speedboat: 13 min Frankenstein's Monster: 20 min PC (DOS) Historyline: 110 min Did I hear myself say "That's it for Historyline" last week...? Let me explain: I already mentioned that I was inspired to play HL again by a Lets Play series I'm watching on a german retro channel. The guys take their time, and talk a lot about all sorts of stuff during playing, which I find quite enjoyable in this case. I now decided to play every map they are currently playing for myself as well. They take at least 8 weeks to finish a map (uploading ~ 15 min videos every few days), so expect me to post HL playtimes sporadically in the future :-).

+thegoldenband
My times for the week: Atari 2600: 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe - 15 min. Genesis: Faery Tale Adventure - 543 min. Gemfire - 224 min. Beat Gemfire and "re-beat" Faery Tale Adventure (which I beat back in 2012), both for the Sega-16 effort. Otherwise I played a few games of 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe, and beat the CPU on Level 1. No idea why that game is so reviled -- I've always thought it was a perfectly reasonable implementation of, well, 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe.

twoquickcapri
Sony PlayStation: Final Fantasy VIII - 190 min.Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete - 1298 min. Finally got around to finishing Lunar SSSC after putting it off earlier this year. Just as good as I remember from the 90's when I played the Sega CD version. Also went back to the FF8 save I started last year in hope to finish it this time. 20 hours in and I still don't know if I like the game or not. The magic/junction/GF system fun and stupid all at the same time and story has been super silly up to this point in the game.

Skippy B. Coyote
Sneaking in at the last minute once again! It's been another slow week for gaming around here due to medical problems making me feel too lousy to play games most of the time, and the fact that the household currently lacks a working Atari 2600, but I still managed to get in a fair bit of time playing some arcade games on the PS1 and Wii. Ineligible The House of the Dead III (Arcade, played on The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for Wii) - 71 minutes Arcade Asteroids (played on Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 1 for PS1) - 8 minutes Centipede (played on Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 1 for PS1) - 107 minutes Centipede (played on Atari Anniversary Advance for Game Boy Advance) - 60 minutes Crystal Castles (played on Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 2 for PS1) - 32 minutes The House of the Dead 2 (played on The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for Wii) - 133 minutes Millipede (played on Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 2 for PS1) - 37 minutes Missile Command (played on Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 1 for PS1) - 66 minutes Paperboy (played on Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 2 for PS1) - 44 minutes RoadBlasters (played on Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 2 for PS1) - 28 minutes Game Boy Missile Command - 9 minutes MS-DOS Ultimate Doom - 23 minutes Sony PlayStation Resident Evil: Director's Cut - 151 minutes Total Play Time This Week769 minutes (12 hours 49 minutes)Individual System Play Times This Week Arcade: 586 minutes (515 minutes eligible) Sony PlayStation: 151 minutes MS-DOS: 23 minutes Game Boy: 9 minutes
+thegoldenband
Here's the summary for Week 33, running from August 10 - 16. We logged 6464 minutes of eligible playtime, playing 102 games on a total of 21 systems. Top 10: 1. Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (PlayStation) - 1298 2. Kaboom (Atari 2600) - 1247 3. TI Invaders (TI-99/4A) - 48 10. Paperboy (Arcade) - 44 Paperboy is an edge case for pre-NES eligibility, so if you prefer: 11. Millipede (Arcade) - 37 Top 10 systems: 1. Atari 2600 (1882) 2. PlayStation (1639) 3. Genesis (1232) 4. Arcade (515) 5. NES/Famicom (368) 6. TI-99/4A (208) 7. PC (DOS) (157) 8. Apple II (77) 9. Atari Lynx (70) 10. Atari 7800 (61) And another one for our Top 10 weeks of all-time, as Week 33 takes the #8 spot on those honorable rolls! This time it's the PlayStation RPG Lunar that pips Kaboom for the top spot, but the Atari reigns supreme on the other two charts. Speaking of RPGs, the Amiga to Genesis port Faery Tale Adventure is our newest member of the 1000-minute club, with 1381 minutes total granting it ticket #165 to that elite society.
