Wonder what your opinion will be about that Old Skool TG16 pad will be. Is that the one where the original release doesn't work with the turbo tap? I have one OEM controller that is getting fragile.

Of course, I could just get an adapter at Console5 and look into the options intended for the PC engine.

I def need to break out my Turbografx or PC Engine Duo R and give some new controllers a go.  Admittedly, I haven't had my Turbo Tap in use for long time...Last time we played 4 or 5 player Bomberman and it was an absolute blast!  Maybe next time I have some friends over or after life gets more back to normal...

Anyhow I need to check out the Old Skool and I also have a brand new Hyperkin Specialist.  Both come with the adapter to work on PC Engine or Turbografx.  And unlike a lot of others it appears,  I have never had  a problem with anything by Hyperkin.  My RetroN 5 plays ROMs, I have a clone Genesis/NES by them that works fine, and their Sega Genesis controllers are Awesome (Just like real SEGAs!)...

I would love one of those but like the one you have (I hate wireless controllers). Though I would need a TG-16 to PC Engine controller adapter to use it though.

Right on.  Another idea is you could buy an Old Skool Turbografx controller or a Hyperkin Specialist as both come with an adapter cable to control your PC Engine.  Then you'd have the adapter cable to use with any Turbografx controller you might buy, i.e.  if you find an Acemore on eBay or something...And given that the prices of original Turbografx/PC Engine controllers have shot to the moon right now,...Well, you'd be supporting a company that is giving the people what they want  (Though I do understand some people are cautious and want to make sure the controllers are decent and it's not just a cash grab)...P1020689.thumb.JPG.8d734282f51214e5ed789fcdb7fdc542.JPG

They Both look pretty decent to me, but I haven't plugged them in yet...The cable length is long on the Hyperkin, the adapter cable is longer on the Old Skool...I have TG16 Extension cables anyway.

I'll try to let people know what I think after I try them out, even though it may just be a quick first impression, (also I tend to just like what I like, plenty of real reviewers out there if people want to find them...)  I usually buy stuff without reading any reviews because I usually know what I'm going to like...But I have been burned before, like a Retro-Bit Sega Genesis controller that was the absolute worst!...Though their new ones are supposed to be good...

I sold all of my Wii U stuff end of last year and recently started playing a lot of Wii U games on the Cemu emulator with my son. I decided that if I like the games that much I better buy them again. The cycle of Wii U comes again. I always forget how much I miss playing games on a full size gamepad with bigger analogs that are aligned. I much prefer playing games like Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the Wild on the Wii U over the Switch. Also the games are still relatively cheap to pick up.

Bought the following today:

Apple 2e 8meg/80col ram expansion https://www.ebay.ca/itm/RAM2E-GW4203B-8MB-RAM-for-Apple-IIe-e-80-column-RAMWorks-compatible/254541875683?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Ti-99/4a The Brewing Academy TiPi https://www.ebay.ca/itm/TIPI-TI-99-4a-to-Raspberry-Pi-Interface-TIPI-ONLY-version-NEEDS-32K-SIDEPORT/283855330913?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

And https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Raspberry-PI-3-B-B-PLUS-64-Bit-Quad-Core-1GB-WIFI-Motherboard-Computer-NEW-2018/324248100822?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Both to go with my previously bought 32k and case for it and the TiPi. Now my Ti-99/4a setup is complete since I also have a FG99.

For the Apple 2e Platinum I still need to find a CP/M card at a good price to complete my hardware setup.

For the Atari, I need a second 1051 or better yet a XF551 (bucket list) and an Atarimax SIO2USB with Ape (next month).

For the Commodore, I`m pretty much done but I`d like to get my hands on a 1581 (bucket list)

I also need a color composite monitor, a 1702 would be nice,  but any luma/chroma/svideo 14 or 15" compatible tv/ monitor would do.

So,  I gave these both a quick try tonight and both worked just fine, though I have no idea about Turbo Tap compatibility.  My first impression was that the Hyperkin was a little smoother...I was playing some Bonk's Revenge.  After a few levels with the Hyperkin, I paused it and tried the Old Skool, which felt, just barely mind you, like it needed a tiny microscopic bit more pressure for the presses on the D-Pad.  I don't see how you could go wrong with either, but I may have to try a different game (something with diagonals) just to be sure :)

It's been a long while since I did any gaming pickups post, mostly because my game hunting activities have dropped to exactly zero since the pandemic started back in March, but I did just finish a rather cool project lately. A friend gifted me a free Game Boy Color that was really beat up looking but still worked fine, so I refurbished it with a new shell and buttons as well as a backlit screen kit from Console5.com. It was a drop-in installation with no soldering or case modding required, and since it's a TFT display rather than an IPS one it works just as well outdoors as indoors. VERY cool stuff! :D
