Froese was 70. Optical Race is an album by electronic artists Tangerine Dream, which was released in 1988. Optical Race is the inaugural album of the Melrose Years era, and the band's first to be programmed largely with a computer, an Atari ST using Steinberg/Jones software. atarian1 #2 Posted January 25, 2015 RIP Edgar. I never heard of Tangerine Dream until they started advertising the fact that they heavily used Atari ST computers for their music compositions. I bought a few albums over the years (including Optical Race) and still enjoy them. I remember Atari sponsoring their North American tour in the late 80s. I recall seeing the concert programs on Ebay once or twice over the years. It is still cool seeing the album notes stating Optical Race was made on an Atari ST with Steinberg Pro24 software to this day.
