rdhays82604
I was not sure who to address this question to Drac030 or Phaeron or where on the forum to post this question. When I type ? fre(0) in MultiBasic I get 13089 bytes free.I have High Memory addressing set to None (24-bit addressing). Also I do not see a setting for the amount of 24-bit addressable memory to allocate. Is it possible to get more free ram for MultiBasic? +Larry
That seems a bit short on memory. I get 17,697 free using MyDos on real hardware. But I remember that MBI takes a lot more memory than TBXL. -Larry
rdhays82604
I guess my assumption was that I would have access to the upper memory to write my programs in.
flashjazzcat
Are the Multi-Basic and 65816 OS ARCs password protected - or is it just PeaZip getting confused?
rdhays82604
i used universal Extractor. You might give it a try,

phaeron
According to the MultiBASIC docs, high memory is not currently used. You're stuck with the amount of memory between MEMLO and RAMTOP, minus the screen and interpreter. If you're running from SpartaDOS X, launch with X to gain 8K. High memory is configured in Altirra in the same place you select None (24-bit addressing) -- System > Memory Config > High Memory. For instance, 192K (banks $01-03) will add memory from $01:0000 to $03:FFFF. This is separate from extended memory and Axlon memory.
fujidude
Are the Multi-Basic and 65816 OS ARCs password protected - or is it just PeaZip getting confused? I have witnessed problems with modern archive software not being able to handle our typical Atari land ARCs. I primarily use 7Zip, and it has similar problems to PeaZip. That's not surprising since PeaZip is based off 7Zip. I can confirm 1st hand what was said in here that Universal Extractor handles them fine. I have also read that IZarc works with them also. Universal Extractor also handles instller files too. That's usually when I break UE out when I need to do that. Otherwize I use 7Zip because the UI in UE is minimalistic. flashjazzcat
Universal extractor was indeed the perfect solution, at least until I realized that Altirra will mount ARC files as SDFS disks.
