CapitanClassic Posted February 9, 2015 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Finally figured out how to beat the blue ostriches (ostrichi?). I was used to the Atari 800 version where you can bounce off the top at high speed. This one doesn't really allow that. Key points - You are completely safe from the blue birds at the top of the screen. You can use this to setup for kills. - The pterodactyl doesn't charge until the middle of the screen and doesn't change altitude like in the arcade/A800 version. - The blue birds don't change altitude very fast, but do change direction. (Just make sure you slowly approach their height) - The eggs take about a full screen of drifting to hatch. You can wait for the eggs to come back around before capturing them. The egg level is pretty easy. If you start by collecting the first egg at the top right, you can run right and collect, two in the middle at a time, two at the bottom at a time, and the final one at the top before it hatches. The pterodactyl isn't that dangerous. You can choose to stab it in the mouth, but it is better just to avoid it. When respawning, don't do so if there are blue birds close to the left/right of you. You don't need to immediately go to the top of the screen (even on a pterodactyl level). It is pretty easy to dodge if you stay under the middle platforms. Slowly make your way to the top when it is safe. At the top of the screen, I find it is easiest to stay high by furiously tapping the button. If your timing isn't completely off, you will not bounce that far from the top. At the start of turns when the birds spawn, kill the right top one first (slightly from center), then go slightly left of center to kill the other top bird. After that, you can usually wait up high to kill the blue birds.
