How to play NGPC Dark Arms

Can anyone point me to online instructions for Dark Arms for the Neo Geo Pocket Color? Something's wierd, I figured out how to build and evolve weapons, but when I "initialize" them they seem to disappear and I can't equip them. Am I doing something wrong?

 

Or perhaps someone can give me the lowdown here?
