ryanmercer #26 Posted February 23, 2015 You might just be SOL, I absolutely can not get any of my 8-bits to work on either LCD in the house, in fact I couldn't even get Atari flashbacks to work on the tv's right... but that's fine because I have several commodore monitors and a sony pvm that I use. LYNXGUY #27 Posted February 24, 2015 I do know alot of tech stuff but not as much as you guys but I will get my Atari 800xl to work somehow because I have a 40' screen and it would be awesome to see Atari games and DOS Systems and various programs I typed in on that big screen. . . . . . . The colors on the leads may not mach up to the function you wouldthink when plugged into an Atari. I'm not saying they aren't correct, and there isn't something else going on, but it could be thatsimple. Yep could be that simple will try. . . . . . . L/R audio will be on the white/red connectors, and compositevideo on the yellow one. That I already knew And you also don't get audio (no screen image, no audio)? I get nothing just black screen but you can tell when I turn the Atari onthat the screen flickers so I know its on the right input source Here's another thought, is the TV's input selected to thecorrect format that matches the 800XL (NTSC / PAL) or AUTO? I never thought of that so I will look into that tomorrow (Tues.) You might just be SOL, I absolutely can not get any of my 8-bitsto work on either LCD in the house, in fact I couldn't even get Atariflashbacks to work on the tv's right... but that's fine because I haveseveral commodore monitors and a sony pvm that I use. My Atari Flashback works just fine. . . . . . . I received my 800XE yesterday and had to switch the input (on the TV'sOption -> Color System Menu) to Auto since the PAL options didn'tdisplay properly.... I will try looking into that tomorrow Thanks to all my fellow Atarians for all your help and I will NOT give up. . . . . . .yet. . . . . . .
Binarygeek #28 Posted March 1, 2015 Hi all I keep hearing about the lack of a chroma signal on the 800XL. I don't have a super video input on my monitor, just the composite and HDMI. Where can I find any info on fixing the chroma signal on the composite signal? Thanks Rick
flashjazzcat #29 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Just Googled this one: http://biosrhythm.com/?p=1002 EDIT: seems I misread the above. I'm not aware of any issue with the composite signal on the 800XL, merely that it lacks the separated chroma signal described in the guide above. You should still get colour over composite. Would there be any benifit to hooking up the chroma inside my computer if using with a composite cable?

fujidude #32 Posted March 1, 2015 Is it possible the 800XL has a chroma/luma mod to it? I thought I have read somewhere that some chroma/luma mods result in the regular composite no longer functioning? Just throwing it out there.

Lifting the right leg of C54, which is one of the steps that I followed, disables composite. One can apply a switch between the lifted leg and its former contact to make it user selectable. The advantage to lifting C54 is that it helps eliminate vertical banding. Edited March 1, 2015 by gamer-stu
