Goochman #1 Posted February 27, 2015 Ok Ive made some prgoress since my initial email setup chain. There are about 5 folders where it seems stuff is loaded into (/etc, /usr, home,..........) Anyhow - Im just about set except I cant seem to get my keyboard mapped properly. I have a HotRodSE controller board. It is not quite the same as the current MAME defaults. On windows I have a hotrodse.cfg file which maps everything nicely but for some reason I cannot get MAME nor QMC2 to recognize this............I manually changed the Player 1 controls in MAME to see if I could find some file that changed but had no luck so if anyone can help me get my keyboard file mapped I would appreciate it! Here is what I have configured so far: /etc/mame/mame.ini $HOME/.qmc2/qmc2.ini Inside this file the following is set: Configuration\Global\keymap_file=/usr/share/games/mame/ctrlr/hotrodse.cfg One fix I did figure out with regard to poor performance - in the mame.ini file the following parameters were set to no multithreading so I changed this to a 1 and I added them to the qmc2.ini file and the emulator runs alot faster now: Configuration\Global\multithreading=1 Configuration\Global\numprocessors=auto Any help/tips appreciated! Goochman #2 Posted February 27, 2015 Ok of course I make a small amount of progress after finally posting a msg. I found the default.cfg file for MAME in the $HOME/.mame/.cfg directory. I copied the contents of my hotrodse.cfg file there and started QMC2. Everything worked great on the first game. Everything worked great on the 2nd game. Unfort when I launched the 3rd game nothing worked - I looked at the default.cfg file and MAME had reset the file.............. Any idea why that might happen? Also still trying to figure out why I can pass my keyboard file directly to MAME during launch.
Arbee #3 Posted March 6, 2015 Hi Goochman, In general you'll get the best Linux, Mac, and QMC2 support on the official SDLMAME/QMC2/MESS forums at forums.bannister.org. Rene, the QMC2 author, posts there often for instance. That said, it's a good idea once you get a config that works to chmod the .cfg file to read-only for safety, and I don't quite understand what you mean by "keyboard file".
