runningman
I recently acquired an Atari 2600 Jr without a working power adapter. So, I purchased a universal retro adapter that claimed to fit all atari 2600 models. Unfortunately, the adapter is too small to fit. The non-working adapter that came with the console does fit, and is clearly much larger than the universal adapter. Can someone point me towards an adapter that will fit? Gribble101
I would advise against using a universal if you can help it, but sometimes that's what you have lying around or you can find locally. You can order stock Atari power supplies from best electronics for around $10 or $15 if I can remember right. A universal power adapter I have used and haven't had any problems out of the Jr with is a RadioShack Enercell 9vdc 800ma, which is $4.97 online; to connect it to the Atari you need a Enercell Adaptaplug F, it's $6.97. The part numbers are Enercell Power Adapter #2730355 Enercell Adaptaplug F#2730339 Here are the links to the RadioShack site Enercell Power Adapter: http://www.radioshack.com/enercell-9vdc-800ma-ac-adapter/2730355.html#.VPZKWIY8LCR Enercell Adaptaplug F: http://www.radioshack.com/enercell-adaptaplug-f/2730339.html#.VPZMNoY8LCR
