Atari-Tom #1 Posted March 4, 2015 I have a question on connecting Japanese consoles to a modern PAL lcd-TV. I am thinking of hooking Jap Famicom and other consoles to Japanese NTSC VCR and then onto a European PAL LCD TV via Scart or RCA. Do you reckon this could work? Ideas, suggestions? Thanks folks! Seob #2 Posted March 4, 2015 If your tv supports ntsc it wouldn't be a problem. But why connect it first to a vcr and then to the tv? Why not connecting it directly to the tv.
CatPix #3 Posted March 4, 2015 If your tv supports ntsc it wouldn't be a problem. But why connect it first to a vcr and then to the tv? Why not connecting it directly to the tv.Most PAL TVs deosn't recognize NTSC RF signals at all, or very poorly. Plus modern flat TVs are just terrible with RF signals, even PAL/SECAM signals. 7800fan #4 Posted March 5, 2015 Some modern TV also don't like ancient 240p signal and mine gives me half a screen of picture and half black lines like giant comb. VCR "cleans" the signal to be more 480i and seems to work properly.
