Does it play any different than the released version?

Unfortunately I haven't got the hardware to test it, but this came from the estate of Atari Age magazine's editor Steve Morgenstern, so it's assuredly the genuine article.

Oh it's definitely real, I had several 7800 protos that looked just like that.

From a magazine review? Chances are it's a later prototype so maybe small variations like bug fixes? It should be dumped so someone can compare with good ROM to see if it's the same or not. old DOS command compare can do that quickly.

It would be nice if it was tested. The last one I bought on ebay had major bitrot.
