mitchd61 #1 Posted March 15, 2015 I recently acquired a Sears Video Arcade II and am pretty happy with it. However, I am somewhat disappointed with the controllers. Granted, they look pretty cool, IMO, but the performance just plain sucks. They feel really "spongy" and are slow to respond. I've read that they (the controllers) don't age very well internally and basically just wear out over time. Anyone here experience the same thing? A good old Atari joystick or a Genesis game pad work fantastic with it.
BassGuitari #2 Posted March 15, 2015 That's been my experience with them as well. They look slick as hell and they work pretty well as paddles, but the joystick is horrible. Stiff, spongy (good word for it!), and unresponsive. Pity, because they're comfortable and stylish to boot.I'd love to see a Video Arcade II with all four of these bad boys hooked up.(For anyone who doesn't know, you can use regular Y-connected paddles on the Video Arcade II as well; IIRC you have to make sure the Joystick button is selected.)
