Godzilla #26 Posted April 4, 2003 cool :-) id love to see that for real. use the picture showing thingy (chrono color?) to make it a 'porn qix' like they had on the amiga :-)
ZylonBane #27 Posted April 4, 2003 Yeah, you could use a Colorview-style display, but it wouldn't really be necessary since no color mixing is necessary. You've just got the blue fills and the white lines (yes, the arcade version has blue and orange fills, but let's pretend to keep this somewhat plausible). The playfield shown would require a bit less than 1/2K to store. Definitely a Supercharger or RAM+ type project.
Godzilla #28 Posted April 4, 2003 i know, but i was thinking to use the color view so that as you fill the screen it reveals a pron pix, like some of the amiga versions :-) get it?
A2600 #29 Posted April 4, 2003 Never! I love qix I have it for GB and 8-Bit! The problem is you have to like it if you dont like its your loss
Nostalgic #30 Posted April 5, 2003 In this brick game, was your cursor a little square that had a kinda constant "zooming" effect going on? And at higher levels, did the happy face start turning invisible? Yes! That's the one! I think I downloaded it from some local BBS. I don't remember typing it in from a magazine. ZylonBane #31 Posted April 5, 2003 Ah, that would be "BRIX" then. I wrote it.
DaveAtari #32 Posted April 5, 2003 Qix rocks! I still pop it in to the gameboy every now and then. Kids love qix for what qix has got, Moms love qix for qix is not
MegaManFan #33 Posted April 6, 2003 Qix rocks!I still pop it in to the gameboy every now and then. Kids love qix for what qix has got, Moms love qix for qix is not I used to love Kix as a kid, but they changed the flavor and made it sweeter, at which point I couldn't stand it anymore. Still love the GAME though.
Nostalgic #34 Posted April 6, 2003 Ah, that would be "BRIX" then. I wrote it. Thank you for all the fun I had with it when I was younger!
ZylonBane #35 Posted April 7, 2003 Glad you liked it! To tell the truth, I'd completely forgotten that I ever uploaded that anywhere. I started out trying to make "Qix but without fills", but it always felt a little too freeform to me. Ended up more like "Qix meets Zookeeper". Oh well, it could still get pretty tense at the higher levels where the face was almost constantly homing in on you. Did the version you played have different starting patterns as you went up in levels?
Nostalgic #36 Posted April 7, 2003 Did the version you played have different starting patterns as you went up in levels? As far as I can remember, it did.
