thetallguy24 #1 Posted April 17, 2015 Came across a German group that claims to have an "ANNIVERSARY EDITION OF THE ATARI 7800". It looks really nice, but I was wondering if anybody knew about this or have bought from these guys. They also appear to have something called an "Atari 7800 Hifi Rack Version". Their stuff looks really cool. https://www.facebook.com/pages/retro-moddingde/1472842296262882 http://0711spiele.de/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGRM_LNlxtY
Bill Loguidice #2 Posted April 17, 2015 They take the original hardware and upgrade/retrofit it. I haven't bought from them because the language barrier is a bit impenetrable at times, but I think their reputation is solid.
Magic Knight #3 Posted April 17, 2015 Looks good but not sure what it offers that isnt already avialable on original 7800's on Ebay/craglist etc for around 40 bucks jumping the gun a little but compatibility with the upcomming XM7800 is a must... Supposedly comes with stereo surround and Scart connector. I'd say that's an improvement
+Trebor #5 Posted April 17, 2015 Thread which discusses the products and the attitude and actions of its "creator", retromod, is here.
thetallguy24 #6 Posted April 17, 2015 Thread which discusses the products and the attitude and actions of its "creator", retromod, is here. Retromod.PNG So is that guy "rivermod" legit? Do they really sell modded Atari 7800s?
Magic Knight #7 Posted April 17, 2015 Supposedly comes with stereo surround and Scart connector. I'd say that's an improvement Agreed - the surround part is mouthwatering especially where its natively mono and the dual pokey on the 8bit computer atari was mindblowing. . I can t seem to see any for sale on site/ebay etc as previosuly touted. 150 Euro is steep, so does anyone here own one that can shed light on the specs and perfomance - im intrigued! Jinks #8 Posted April 17, 2015 Go to pawn shop and get a chorus guitar pedal maybe some echo effects. plug in line from the mono audio out to an amp. Same stuff going on here.. Or buy effects processor pictured here for the upgrade. This is the 3rd time this has been brought up btw.
2600 Forever #9 Posted April 17, 2015 Do not deal with this guy, he is incredibly rude and also anti-competitive, he has been banned from many places on the net, including AA. Always trying to ruin other peoples work, where ever he gets a chance.

Jinks #11 Posted April 17, 2015 touchy subject??? Well lets just in a nutshell say rmod said AA is a buncha aholes and we dont matter to his sales so screw him. That was the last conclusion. But if you like was just stating the obvious. Q:7800 remake A: No
gilsaluki #12 Posted April 17, 2015 I have to say, some people on this site are A-holes YOU know who you are). I mean I mis-posted a thought about a game's rarity on the programming area by mistake instead of the general area.....the web dude jumped all in my anus. What gives, why be so rude? Mistakes, except for the Clintons, happen. Lighten up Francis. With that said, maybe this 7800 remake dude is an A-hole as well.

Retromod matter of fact is one of the people that cause Bob aka PacManPlus to take a break from this site and Atari 7800 programming. Retromod basically called Bob a bank Robber back in late January on another site. Edited April 17, 2015 by 8th lutz

Retromod basically called Bob a bank Robber back in late January on another site. Interesting reading. He seems to know that everybody else is doing wrong in the retro scene and is quite vocal about it. Even to the level that he says that using William Shatner as a forum avatar is "llegal". (I guess "fair use" exemptions are something he hasn't heard of) What he doesn't seem to understand is it's also is a trademark violation to modify goods materially and sell them with the original trademarks intact. He is doing just that with his console modifications. Somehow "illegal" is what other people do, I guess.
