ataricrypt
So many awesome Atari ST games by these guys. Hard to pick a favourite! Maybe CE? Hope this gets enough backing.
la1n
You have to look at the concept art for chaos engine .-) For me it could be CE, Xenon or Speedball. And i would decide for speedball because of the game mechanics are so radical.
ataricrypt
You're gonna hate me ... the only game I never like by those guys was Speedball. Xenon...wow such a beautifully done game. I came to the ST from the Spectrum and my jaw broke as it dropped and hit the floor. That music too!! One of those gaming moments in history where I knew the ST was for me. Awesome game. la1n
Xenon & Xenon II were of course perfect like all games of bitmap brothers .-) The perfect vertical shootemups .-) A milestones like R-Type. No question. Also the idea in II to add BombTheBass, the Shop etc. .-) Therefore no problem .-) I even understand why you could not like speedball .-)
Greyfox
Yeah Xenon one was a deal breaking when I got it..thought, how were they able to do more or less arcade perfect graphics as well as a full digitized video hud display with perfectly clear sampled speech? truly ground breaking!!! and at the time thought this has to be one of those once off special titles to appear on the Atari ST , boy I'm glad I was wrong on that.
Lost Dragon
The 2 Xenon's were nice, the Speedball's fantastic, but my heart will always be with Gods. For myself the Bitmap's finest hour.Never took to Chaos Engine to that degree, Magic pockets i bought after falling for the hype, bit rubbish dressed up nicely. I'm in 2 minds about the book though, i want it to do well, but as a 'consumer' pretty much everything i wanted answered over the years has been done via interviews with Ex-Bitmap Bros folk in Edge or on RVG etc.
