Beige TI keyboard bounce/repeat problems

I tried searching a few different ways I but I was unable to find the exact post. ISTR someone mentioning around here that the keyboards in the beige TIs have a habit of bouncing or rapidly repeating.

 

Mine is exhibiting this behavior. Is this a common problem?

I have typically taken off the key and slightly bend the fingers further out. Can take some trial an d error though.

Some of the beige keyboards have the fingers--these get the bounce issue (as do the black keyboards). I usually just carefully clean the inside of the sticking keys with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab. Sometimes a bit of forming is required too, as Chris already noted.

 

Later keyboards used a membrane (Mitsumi). These are much more problematic once the membrane decays. . .

you can tell if you have the good keyboards if there's solder points on the back..

The keyboard in my #1 has a very loud CLACKITY CLACK and a real "satisfying" bounce-back.

 

None of my other TIs have that. I assume that is the "good" one? (I love it, anyway...)

There is also another alternative for people who cannot bear to put a black keyboard in their beige TI....
