Dauber
Episode 92? Hey, what can we say? A new month, a new episode, a New Rally-X. (And, of course, a Super Xevious!) More info about the This Week In Robotron contest at Midwest Gaming Classic coming soon -- keep your eyes and ears open! http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode092.mp3 Edited April 1, 2019 by Dauber
S1500
The episode was very..um, how do I describe it? Bridge over Troubled Water. Yes, let's go with that.
Dauber
You mean it'll win a Grammy?
Dauber
Just the title of episode 93 is longer than some of the tweets we’ve sent out. Unlike with episode 92, these two games actually provide us with something substantial to say…imagine that! And we hope to see you at Midwest Gaming Classic today! http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode093.mp3
Inky
It was fun meeting everyone at MGC this year! The Edladdin giveaway was a huge hit, and generated some excitement in the final minutes of the contest!
S1500
My 2 cents: I played Xybots at a private arcade party with a friend. We got all the way to the end boss, but could not defeat him. If you lose & continue(unlimited continues, I think), you are sent pretty far back in order to take another swing at him. You have take special care to not get hit on your left or right side by an enemy that's not in your peripheral vision. Attack of the Robot Monsters is a great game. The graphics & mechanics are spot on, but the difficulty gets to be rather high. Even with me blasting away as fast as any shoot-em-up game, I get overwhelmed pretty quickly at the sheer number of robots & other enemies after me. Perhaps this is best enjoyed with multiple players.
Inky
Has it really been since April when we last updated this thread? We're still alive and kicking. Episode 98 will be up before too long!
Dauber
Actually, it WAS too long, but here it is. We apologize for the lateness. We have switched to a 3-week schedule due to a little thing called life. Unfortunately, this coincided with the 4th of July holiday. But nonetheless...here's the new episode! http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode098.mp3
Dauber
Episode 99! This time Jim and Sean talk about a couple of not-too-common arcade games that have a surprising number of things in common and some pretty interesting back stories. http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode099C.mp3
Dauber
So we’ve lasted 100 episodes! Yay! And we’ve extended that savings on to YOU! Three special guests join our not-so-special hosts for a unique celebration of all things Pie Factory…well, maybe not all things Pie Factory, but…oh, just listen to The Pie Factory Podcast 100th Episode Spatula. http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode100C.mp3
S1500
In the TI-99/4A world, we didn't have Head On, we had Car Wars, which was 90% of the same.
Inky
Episode 101, Head On 2, Pac Man Plus, anyone? http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode101.mp3
Dauber
Episode 102 has dropped! In this episode, Jim and Sean study the intricacies of the contrapuntal philosophies of the next-generation trends of the upper echelon and how they relate to the hoi polloi's intrapersonal struggle with the id and the superego. Or...was that another episode?? Hmm...well, this episode talks about either that or a couple of old video games called Space Panic and Looping; we don't remember for sure. http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode102.mp3
S1500
With Galloping Ghost buying a Chinese food restaurant, I'm reminded of Toronto. There's a great place called "Sam The Record Man" on Yonge street. Down Yonge street, there was "Sam The Chinese Food Man", which was bought out to avoid being demolished.
Dauber
So episode 103 has been released. In this episode, Sean and Jim talk about two games that are not the most common buggers you’ll see in the arcade world. But hey, it’s for some special friends, so why not?

Dauber
I played it once. Didn't hate it. Might be something to look into.
+sramirez2008
Just listened to your last episode (106 Home Consoles IV Vectrex / 5200) and you mentioned a few of my favorite 5200 games. Space Dungeon (both this and Robotron did come packed with the Controller Holder). Qix - Great port and I agree, the CX52 controller worked well with it. Space Invaders - This is a great version. It doesn’t get enough love IMO and yes, it does work with the track-ball. Great episode guys.? <Edit> I need a Vectrex.
+sramirez2008
Another great episode (#107 Blueprint and Solar Fox) gentlemen. I like the 2600 version of each game more than its arcade counterpart, but that’s probably because I was first exposed to each game on the 2600. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next esipode. Btw, that “word” from your sponsor was great! ? 1
Dauber
Thanks for the reminder -- totally forgot (AGAIN!!) to post that we have a new episode out!
Dauber
Happy April! It's always a sunshine day when the Pie Factory Podcast brings you a new episode! This time, kick back with a couple of relaxing video games from the '80s, following Jim and Sean through their adventures. (Note: even though we at least twice mentioned the date we recorded this episode, we know that it's easy to forget or not even notice, but...this episode was recorded before the stay-at-home orders were issued! We assure you we practice social distancing. Then again, it's not much of a change of pace for either of us, given our social skills.) https://www.fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode109.mp3
Dauber
Episode 110 has been unleashed! In this episode about a couple of somewhat obscure games, Jim discusses geology, whilst Sean waxes philosophical about parenthood. And games, too. Yeah, they both talk about games. http://fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode110_C.mp3
Dauber
Pie Factory goes off-topic for episode 111. Jim and Sean take a break from the usual arcade game talk and invite friends to join them in a discussion of socializing over online media before there was social media...or widespread Internet. https://www.fab4it.com/piefactory/audio/PFP_Episode111C.mp3
