bigfriendly
Hello everybody:) I just downloaded to latest version of Stella onto my laptop and got the ROMS for it. I was wondering if anybody had any joystick advice for me. The USB sticks that look like Atari knockoffs on Amazon have pitiful ratings. I'm surprised that their isn't more of a selection for vintage gaming enthusiast. I wanted to get two joysticks so my Wife and I could play together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Scott
Hyperboy
You can use your Atari sticks with a db9-usb adapter. There are a few different ones available. Retro Link Atari on Amazon 2600-daptor (my personal favorite for its versatility) Other option.. Syzygy USB Atari joystick (good stick but some people have had problems ordering lately) Just google names for links. I hope that helps
akator
The Retronic USB adapters work well with original Atari and compatible controllers. They can also be used with DB9 controllers from other systems like ColecoVision, SMS, Genesis, etc.

20ohm20
Another vote for the 2600-daptor II. I use them with my laptop when I travel and they work great with not just joysticks, but with paddles and the driving and keyboard controllers too.
PFL
I'd go with an adapter too. The Syzygy sticks are reportedly good but I wouldn't bother ordering from them. As Hyperboy says there are issues. My personal experience is that I got ripped off. I ordered a stick in June 2014. In July my order still wasn't processed so I emailed Curt who said the order was stuck and he would process it the following day... another month passed and nothing. I emailed again and got no reply. I emailed another 3 times. I even asked for a refund. Nothing. Bumped. Just a warning... The 2600-daptor II looks like the most versatile one though there are cheaper options. Trinity
What ever happened to the Stelladaptor?
+wongojack
I have the 2600-daptor (original) and one of the early versions of the Syzygy controller. I prefer the 2600-daptor because of the increased precision and various controller options that it affords. Same guy also has a Vision-daptor for Intellivision and Colecovision. Take note of this on the Vision-daptor page: "The Coleco mode also works with Atari 2600 joysticks." I keep meaning to get one of those. . . dualcam
What ever happened to the Stelladaptor? The Stelladaptor was discontinued some years ago. I started making the 2600-daptor as a replacement when I couldn't get a Stelladaptor myself. I know there are cheaper options if you are only interested in joystick support. I make my adapters with components I purchase here in the US, and it is just not possible for me to compete on price with ones made overseas for only a few pennies each.
