Keatah #2 Posted May 8, 2015 So much for saving money with no-physical-package downloads. Then again, it's like everything else. If something becomes nicely affordable and prevalent, some middleman will step in and tack on added fees that provide nebulous or no benefits. People need to start speaking with their wallet. Amstari #3 Posted May 8, 2015 They are calling it the "Netflix tax" but it really should be called the "Foxtel tax". Foxtel have wanted to do anything stop people moving from overpriced cable TV to cheap streaming services and they have influenced the introduction of this tax. VPN services will enjoy an influx of Aussie customers soon.
+KeeperofLindblum #4 Posted May 8, 2015 This is pretty dang shitty.I've got a friend who lives down there, so I've heard many times about how he's spending quite a bit more on basically... anything. If the higher cost of the item doesn't get him, then the shipping cost does. +Cobra Kai #5 Posted May 9, 2015 So much for saving money with no-physical-package downloads. We're just 'grumpy old codgers' for pointing out these obvious things before they happen though.
liam #6 Posted May 30, 2015 Unfortunately the Australian government has imposed a 10% tax increase on digital goods and online streaming services. Using VPN is your only way to avoid GST and get Steam in Australia http://www.vpnanswers.com/avoid-gst-get-steam-australia-vpn/ .
