Anybody heard of Leisurevision

Recommended Posts

When I was a kid I had a system called Leisurevision. It died a long time ago and my parents got rid of it when I was a kid. Once again I am thinking about that old system, however I have never heard anything about it since in the CGG forum, nor have I seen any of these systems or games in thrift stores. Does anybody have any information about Leisurevision and how rare it might be?

i think leisurevision made pong clones

Nope you're probably thinking of APF. Leisurevision was the Canadian name for the Arcadia 2001. Check for Arcadia 2001 and you're bound to find a ton of info.

As for rarity, the system can fetch $25 or so, usually games are worth about $5 to $10. There isn't much demand for the system and it only has a small but loyal following. However games from any system in the Arcadia family can be played on any system. So Leisurevision games can be played on a Arcadia 2001 and vise versa.

Some other Arcadia clones are: Hanimex HMG-2650, Schmid TVG-2000, Advision, Leonardo, and Tunix.

I'm pretty sure that Leisurevision is the same as the Emerson Arcadia cart based system. If you search for Emerson Arcadia, you should turn up some info. Not particularly rare, I think.

I've got some label variations coming frm Europe (Schmid stuff) but that's about it. I've got all the games except the Japanese only releases (Dr. Slump, Gundum, Super Fortress Macross, and Doerman(sp?)). Actually I'm getting THE END in that bundle which is one of the last I needed.

Thank you very much for the info. I'm looking to pick up a LV for nostalgia's sake. It had a couple of really cool games.

Doraemon

That's it. It's the one about the cat who's afraid of mice. I actually have a Doraemon comic book.

This system went under a few different names depending on where it was sold... in the States, it was the Arcadia 2001, in Canada it was the Leisure-Vision, and I think it was sold by a company called Hanimex in parts of Europe.

I wish I could say everything was all fine and compatible... but I'd be lying. I remember seeing some information about some of the systems having different pinouts on the cartridge port and whatnot... however, I believe the Leisure-Vision and Arcadia 2001 work together fine.

I actually found a few Leisure-Vision games in a thrift store a year or so back, in their boxes and all. Although I couldn't find a Leisure-Vision to play them, I bought them anyways (It's pretty obvious that if I had passed them up, I'd have found a system the next day, and never seen another game for the rest of my life). Crazy Gobbler, Baseball, and Alien Invaders... or as some may call them, Pac-Man, Home Run, and Space Invaders... *cough*...
