Received an Atari VCS 2600 AP (PAL)

I finally got a Atari CX2600 A, it was sent in a Darth Vader box. My fault, I didn't pay attention.

Nevermind the VCS is in top condition, all paperwork, and Pac-Man cib.

 

Do we have a serial thread like we have with the 6er and Jrs?

Couldn't find anything.

Interesting, seller claims that's how it was bought in the mid 80s, new

Here's the box picture, with the Stiftung Warentest test from 3/84 (which makes it believable?).

No serial on box.

 

So shall I believe the seller (I'd already left good feedback, he had no reason to lie) and give the console a home in this box? Maybe that's something we never knew about? Consoles just packed in any box how they came?

Yes, it does say CX 2600 A on the Test sticker.

Anyways, I'm going to leave them together as a nice oddity. 4 switcher console sold in a all black console box, doesn't happen often.

Here's another example of a woodgrain sold in a darth vader box and PAL too.

Was this common practice?

I bought my PAL 2600 woody from the original buyer. He didn't have the box anymore, but the original manual was from a vader model.

 

I've seen more woody's for sale over here in the netherlands that had vader boxes.

OK, so another one, and more proof too.

 

I wonder what was the reason behind this?

 

Wonder if the PAL Atariboxed rarity guys can shed some light on this.
