Covox hardware detection

Is there a reliable way to test for the presence of Covox? I realize Covox can be decoded at various different addresses (although it's commonly at 0xD6xx), and some of the tracker software needs to be explicitly told where to find the registers, but I was looking for a way to silently establish if there's a Covox in the machine.

It'd be one of those things where user input is needed.

 

My suggestion would be have a menu with each possible base address, have a Test option and a Select option for each (pretty easy to install stuff and forget how you configured it).

Yeah: that seems to be the approach the trackers take. Ironically, I've realized I don't need to detect it anyway.
