JazGaming
I am thinking about buying a jag, 32x, or segacd which one has the best games and would be the most fun to have? I know that if I get a 32x it will be the cheapest and a segacd is cheaper than a jaguar but which is the most fun?

Rick Dangerous
Definitely go for the 32x
Paul Westphal
Sega CD has the most varied games, 32x has a small ( but good ) library, and the Jag is getting more expensive, so it is a good investment. If you tire of the jag you can sell the good games for your $$ back and take a vacation.

Willard
there was a thread similar to this in the past, if you want to take a look.
sd32
Sega CD has the better library of games, no contest. Jaguar has homebrew stuff going on, so that makes it pretty cool. So i would get a Sega CD first, a Jaguar second, and a 32X third. I personally have a soft spot for the Jaguar since day one, so i would take it first just out of sentimental value, hehe.
+Saturn
Though the Jag is my favorite, the Sega CD has always ranked pretty high. Overall, its library has been the most fun to play & hack. Plus, it has Soul Star (along w/ Earthworm Jim SE, Final Fight CD, Cliffhanger, Sonic CD & Wolfchild-which are among my favorites.) +madman
Talk about 3 systems that get a bad rap, but the Sega CD and the 32X have some great games. I would get a Sega CD first, no doubt. Sonic CD, Final Fight CD, Silpheed, lots of fun games available among the FMV garbage. I've got a pretty good 32X collection, but I would consider the system worth it alone for Virtua Racing Deluxe. Still a fun game IMO. Great port of MK2 as well and a handful of other decent titles. Plenty of threads on here about the Jag and its games, but it'd be a bigger investment so I would recommend it last.
JazGaming
I have decided that I should get the jaguar first because it is very rapidly increasing in price so I think it is worth buying now rather than when the price goes up. However I may later get a Sega CD because it does have a large and good library of games especially considering it's life span. But with one of the supposedly best version of DOOM and Wolfenstein 3d as well as games like rayman, iron soldier, and alien versus preditor. But since I haven't seen anyone else with this question I will leave this up for further debate for other people.
Willard
Many Sega CD games have been going up in price too. Quite substantially. Games like Keio have gone up almost 500% in the last few years, while games like earthworm jim have nearly doubled in value and all those common but desireable games like terminator and sonic cd actually cost enough (complete) to make you take a minute to consider buying them when it wasn't long ago that they were pretty much worthless. Saturn is getting a lot of that lately too. I wouldn't say that crazy prices are exclusive to the Jaguar. Although the Jaguars self-published titles (which are artificially rare) are jumping in price the commercial releases aren't that much worse than the trend you see across a lot of retro systems right now. sirlynxalot
Unfortunately even the 32X is going up in price very rapidly now. If you don't have a genesis already, expect a genesis and 32x to cost on average $70, which may or may not include shipping if you buy from ebay. That's about on par with a loose jaguar. Many 32x games are still cheap as loose carts, but as with the jag, there are several rare and interesting quality titles such as Blackthorne which typically hover around the 50-70 range. Austin
Get a 32X *and* a Sega CD. They together will cost you about the same, if not less, than a Jaguar, and combined they have more games worth playing.
Rick Dangerous
If you really want some Sega goodness that is as good as the jaguar (better really) what you should be looking at is a Saturn. Systems can be found for $60, and action replay for $30, and many great games for the system are still $15-30 bucks.
Greg2600
If you have an Everdrive, that can play all 32X titles, as some are pretty hard to find. 32X as a system is pretty cheap. A working SegaCD is probably double its price, and Jags are not super cheap either. SegaCD does have the best library I feel, although many of its better games are pretty expensive. You of course can burn to CD as well. Of the three, I only own a 32X though.

BTW, if the OP does decide to go the Sega CD route -- if you don't like all the AC Adapters that are needed for the Sega versions, there is always the JVC X'eye. I've got one -- they are pretty solid and seem to be more reliable than the original Sega CD unit (the one with the tray that opens ejects out of the front panel). The revised top loader Sega CD that hooks to the right side of the Genesis also seems to work quite well. I had a lot more luck with them when it comes to reliability. Austin
You of course can burn to CD as well. This is huge too. If you're not collecting, the Sega CD can require a very small investment up front in order to experience its library, unlike the Jaguar. 32X, likewise, as long as you have a flash cart (which still runs about a third the price of the Jag's flash cart).

NeoGeoNinja
But with one of the supposedly best version of DOOM... No. It's not. It was a great version of DOOM back in the day, when the Jag released. But nowadays, it's not the best version of DOOM on home consoles. It's still good, just not the best
Lost Dragon
Yep, for a while Jaguar had the best console version of Doom, hell lot of my work mates at the time were picking up Jaguars 2nd hand just to play Doom on the machine, but Playstation version (IMO) is by far the better version, simply due to the stunningly atmospheric music used in-game. A genius move in my view. I later went onto buy an N64 and Doom64 and whilst it has it's plus points, of the cart versions, i'd still play the Jaguar version over the N64 version anyday. Lost Dragon
Going to cast my hat into ring for going with the Sega MD/Genesis+CD/MCD option over Jaguar/Jag CD option: Thunderhawk, Terminator SE, Final Fight, Dune, 3D Sections of Batman Returns, Eternal Champions CD, Battlecorps, etc etc simply a far better range of software to be had.

(you can't wait - I deliver.) +1 The logic goes "Only get a Jaguar if you are really into Atari.". Guess I'm into Atari then. = fume on the AA forum? Much logic tho. Good argument why: If you want it, why wait until it's even more expensive. And the games you list - Doom, Wolf, IS, Ray, AvP - are good games on the Jag.
