+remowilliams #6 Posted June 4, 2015 It's terrible when those heartless yard sale sellers take advantage of an unsuspecting victim...
7800fan #7 Posted June 4, 2015 Hope you "miscounted" your money and gave that person $200 Damn nice find! It's so rare to find any game console for under $10.
TheObscureGamer #8 Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) You should definitely get some games with this bad boy. Contrary to what most people think, it has some really good games for it. Thee apprentice, Plunderball, Pac-panic, Tetris, Hotel Mario, Braindead 13, Burn cycle, Ram Raid, Mutant rampage: bodyslam amongst others. Braindead 13 is one of the BEST full motion video games I've ever played. The death animations alone warrant a purchase. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaTTI2qyT4Y Edited June 4, 2015 by TheObscureGamer
Video_Invader #9 Posted June 4, 2015 Sounds good. Are the games hard to find, expensive?
TheObscureGamer #10 Posted June 4, 2015 Sounds good. Are the games hard to find, expensive? Most of the games are cheap execept for Hotel Mario which is slightly more expensive at around $35-40 but most are under $

Master Phruby #12 Posted June 4, 2015 I wonder how many of these are skipped over by people in thrift stores because they think its a normal CD player.
SoulBlazer #13 Posted June 4, 2015 I wonder how many of these are skipped over by people in thrift stores because they think its a normal CD player. I freely admit if I saw one I wouldn't give it a second look. It looks like a normal 'old style' CD player unit to me.
Video_Invader #14 Posted June 4, 2015 I wonder how many of these are skipped over by people in thrift stores because they think its a normal CD player. Thats what i was thinking. I usually look close at these thing though because you never know. The word "Interactive" gave it away for me. No regular cd player would have that on it. icemanxp300 #17 Posted June 6, 2015 I would say want to double your $$ but I feel comfortable offering triple your $$ on this one. What do you say?
Seob #18 Posted June 6, 2015 Nice find. I have a few games for trade. Have to look what games, though, but i guess about 15. But i don't know if they run on us systems.
+chicgamer #19 Posted June 7, 2015 I like my CD-i quite a bit. It has some very apparent limitations, but it's an interesting part of video game history. As a beat-'em-up lover, I dig Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam, even though it lacks two-player support, the music cuts out during sound effects, and the controls aren't really precise. It just has a lot of interesting character designs, plus it has the notorious, hilariously bad animated cut scenes.

I'll eventually own most of the systems ever released. It'll be interesting to see this thing in action.
BigO #21 Posted June 7, 2015 I know someone who might be convinced to part with a Roller Controller (I'm assuming the Magnavox brand stuff uses the same connector as Philips).
TheGameCollector #22 Posted June 7, 2015 You can burn games for it if you use IMGburn. I have the smaller model though and mine takes much longer to load CD-Rs than retail games. Doesn't always boot up on the first try. But at least I can demo stuff that way, or not spend over $100 on Zelda's Adventure.

It'll be interesting to see this thing in action. I find the CD-I a novelty to own simply because it's a unique and interesting part of gaming history. It has a crazy amount of different models, accessories and pieces of software--some of which is still being discovered today for the first time. This keeps the system interesting from a historical point of view as well as intriguing for collectors. As far as it being interesting from an actual gameplay perspective, well.. that's unfortunately another story all together.
