7800fan Posted June 12, 2015 Share Posted June 12, 2015 I've always used the C64 user expansion port for the reset and it's safe to do it that way. I have heard of serial port reset but that trick didn't work on all models. IIRC the pin 1 and 3 of the user port is all you need. Solder a pair of wires to the board (as far from edge as possible if you plan to plug device there) and wire them to a N.O. push button. carlsson Posted June 12, 2015 Share Posted June 12, 2015 I've tried both, and they worked for me. Perhaps not all clone drives supports the reset pin? If you want a reset button that does not reset the drive, I suppose you could make a reset button with an IEC through and some diode to prevent the signal to travel through the cable, but I never investigated this more closely.
