Sharp game "Coup d'Etat"

Are there any Sharp owners (e.g. MZ80K) that might have this title as I'm checking first if its available in an electronic format first as I'd like to have a go at porting it to the Atari?

 

The Basic listing was available in the Dec'92 issue of Your Computer

If I understand correctly, that game was available on volume 29 of the Sharp Users Club MZ-80K Disk Library.

On this site, you can navigate to Download -> MZ-80K/C -> Collection. There are a number of disk images there, but none that matches 29. I can't tell if either disk image matches the library above, but it seemed like a good guess. If you have an emulator or other tool to read those images, you'll be able to tell if you get a hit or not.

Unfortunately the former MZ-80K librarian passed away in February 2015. I don't know if anyone has taken over his duties to copy floppies for return postage, but it could be worth looking into if you don't find the game in the collection above.

Thanks for the detail, I had tried earlier in the year to run through those online images and wasn't able to locate the title but didn't follow up by contacting the club.

Hi,

 

I was able to get the listing from the MZF file (attached) and did make headway into reworking this for importing into the Atari.

I manage this through a mapped H: drive and can then ENTER the text file.

I'd also taken the approach to model the MZ80K charset as an A8 font (I think selectively as if I recall the Sharp has a 256 char font whereas the A8 has 128 chars) so the C64 would suit better in that regard

 

This was done in Dec 2016 but looks like I editing the WIP in March 2019.

Have you got a link to the C64 version or can upload the file here? (as people searching for the title seem to come across this post :))

After testing your MC-10 version in the Javascript emulator, this game basically screams for porting it to the Intellivision, either utilizing the somewhat underused numeric keypad or a more graphic approach moving between locations like in e.g. Super Mario Bros 3. Now with ther power of IntyBASIC, it probably would be a doable task for most interested parties and some people like @nanochess probably would knock it out in one evening if he liked to.

Wrathchild, I should mention that the C64 listing has some bugs in it, including one fatal one that I mention in my blog about the project.

I added levels to my version because I found the original *extremely* unforgiving. Anyone out there remember playing it to a win in its original form?  I'd like to know if there was a strategy...
