+cmart604 #51 Posted July 17, 2015 Yeah, I picked Donkey Kong there as I knew some people would get a kick out of that. I should get my hands on some of the many excellent Intellivision homebrews.. ..Al I might know a guy....

The three I had modified were the ones in best shape that didn't have any obvious issues (although the controllers may not be 100%--I still need to test those). Do you not have a working Intellivision? ..Al

Do you not have a working Intellivision? ..Al It is true, I do not. But to be fair I probably murdered them myself. You see for quite some time I was living on solar only power. I later found out from an old Mattel engineer that my cheap inverter did not provide proper sine wave inversion, and they (as well as colecos, but I haven't bought one of those yet) absolutely required it. I was basically frying Inteliviisons left and right.. meanwhile Atari systems were safe and fine. Better engineering I suppose, greater tolerances. So now that I'm back on the grid (moved to Illinois) I'm looking to give it another shot. My dirty power I am told did not hurt my carts.. so they're still good. townparkradio #55 Posted July 18, 2015 Correction, apparently he was a Tandy engineer, but he doubts the Non Radio Shack units were any different.
Keatah #56 Posted July 18, 2015 Different engineering. It's all in the power supply and what type it is. The carts would most likely be fine. And I bet the fried consoles would be easy to fix.
