Can't save after final boss in Crash 1 for ps1

So I just beat Crash 1 and after the credits it didn't give me the option to save. So now when I load up the file I am at "The Lab". So all I am trying to know is if this is supposed to happen?

I wish I could just beat that damn stupid level where you ride the pig. That level made me so disgusted I sold the game because it was impossible. You must have used witchcraft to beat it. The big question is why does a guy with the name nintendolover has a Sega avatar?

I don't believe the game allows you to save after beating the final boss. It's been a while since I have completed it so I might not be correct, but a lot of games don't let you save after you beat the game.
