+orpheuswaking
Dropzone works best on a PAL machine (Just FYI)
tep392
I did a little hack of Dropzone to drop the frame rate to a PAL 50hz. The scrolling is a little jerky due to how I did it, but now runs at the correct speed on ann NTSC machine. Here's a link.http://atariage.com/forums/topic/188807-dropzone-for-ntsc/?do=findComment&comment=2450559

DiscoDr.Bones
Hey, since my primary interests are arcade conversions, you will find my list a bit slanted: Pac-Man Arcade Joust Nibbler Deluxe Invaders Frogger Moon Patrol Dropzone (in place of Defender) and if you have paddles, "Castle Crisis" is a must have. In terms of games that are not arcade conversions, some personal favorites are: Miner2049'er (Platformer) Lode Runner (Platformer) Choplifter XE (Shooter) Hardball (SPORT!!) Ballblazer (FUTURE SPORT!!) Boulder Dash (The rocks... they keep falling and exploding...) There are many more. The A8 catalog is among the biggest and most varied I have known... you will find many games of all era genres that you will like. kogden
I'd start with some classics like: Joust, Missile Command, Necromancer, Donkey Kong, Star Raiders, Frogger, Robotron 2084, Miner 2049er, Galaxian, Pac-Man Having some kind of mass storage device for your Atari will make your life a lot easier. Carts are neat but they are pricy and harder to get.
+slx
Shamus (Synapse Software), a maze shooter with a consistent map of 128 rooms divided into 4 levels, keys, keyholes, etc. Spelunker (Broderbund), a cave crawl in a huge, smooth scrolling mine two screens wide and xxxx screens high, with a pesky ghost and lots of dynamite. I'd second most of the above recommendations as well and would consider Archon, Miner 2049er and Jumpman "must plays". Troy H. Cheek
Whenever I get an 8 bit emulator going, the first thing I look for is M.U.L.E. I still have the packaging around here somewhere, though the original disk is lost.

Yjzep
My Favorite games that don't make many lists... Embargo..part defender, part frogger..nice colors. Addicting. Dark Chambers...Dandy (gauntlet) clone Buck Rogers....Vertical shooter with "gates" like in skiing. Eastern Front...I am a wargamer so maybe this is just one I like... Anteater...harder to find romox title. I like it. kinda like a cat and mouse chase mixed with dig dug. I have 130+ carts and dozens of disks, not to mention sio2pc and all the .atr files si I am sure there are more I am forgetting.
