gfvh #1 Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W03bOkfqOTo I plan to do a "port" of the above game: Abadia del Crimen. This is the progress I made so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OmtQqgM7qc It will be an isometric game. It shows an ugly flickering when there are two characters at the same time on the screen, but it is smooth when I don't run the screen capturing software. The video shows the protagonist plus the Abbot welcoming him and briefing him into what is going on at the Abbey. The Abbot then walks towards northeast and disappears into another "room", you have to supposedly follow him and he will say something else in the other room, but I didn't made that yet. The game tries to be an improvement of my previous text adventure: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/236213-first-game-text-adventure-rather-crude/ Source code:http://www.freewebs.com/gfvh/atari2600/isomarquee16.txt EDIT 2018: This project continues in http://atariage.com/forums/topic/274213-a-little-isometric-test/ Edited July 6, 2018 by gfvh
+Philsan #2 Posted July 12, 2015 Not an easy task! Good luck!
gfvh #3 Posted July 12, 2015 Thank you!. It will be a "watered down" version. Not very detailed graphically.
gfvh #4 Posted November 17, 2015 <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/aWwaKIL0PKM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> https://youtu.be/aWwaKIL0PKM I decided to resume this little project and I changed the view from "isometric" to top-down view, because it is clearer. It is done via a horrible hack because I never learned to use HMOVE. In the video you are welcomed by the abbot and he explains to you that something awful is going on in the abbey, you follow him around the church until it's time for mass. The view changes to another inhabitant of the abbey: the librarian who works in the tower and locks its doors from the inside (while the music is playing) then he appears in the church from north (from behind the altar) then it is night and time to go to bed, to your cell. The abbots goes to his cell as well. It is planed to be a different rom for each day, this is day 1. It would be cool to have all in one rom but I need to master bankswitching yet. gfvh #5 Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) I put together an ending for the game. There will be something similar for the introduction. EDIT: sou5.bin has better sounds. ending.bin sou5.bin Edited March 23, 2016 by gfvh
gfvh #6 Posted May 7, 2016 New update of the project. The game was totally revamped. It is two roms, read the manual for more information. (I could not make a single 16k rom but I think it's better this way) It features a digitized laugh when you answer the questions wrongly. Also a beautiful theme by J.S. Bach when you answer the questions correctly. The main game tries to be a "demake" of Abadia del Crimen, game shown in the first post. Maybe you need to know the game to play this one. Thank you. gfvh #7 Posted November 26, 2016 (edited) I added a lamp effect to this game. It starts in the second night after the abbot says the compline mass in the altar. The effect is that you only see your surrounding walls plus a pulsating color. This effect makes the game more akin to the original game "Abadia del Crimen". (The lamp effect will have a "mirror" effect because I made the map 1 byte wide and the other byte is reflected. But we're talking about a game about The Name of the Rose so mirrors make sense ) abbeyLamp.bin isolampara2.txt Edited November 26, 2016 by gfvh
