ramidavis #1 Posted July 14, 2015 This is a modified version of the game “Boggler”, originally appearing in the book “Computes! First book of T.I. Games”.I hated the plain graphics, and it used a strange board size, so I redid the program to use a 19x19 board.I also changed it to allow the first player to play where they want, instead of forcing the first move at the center of the board. And I changed the graphics. The game now uses a true “at-intersections” board like pente is supposed to be played on.If you never played pente before, it is basically connect-5/go-moku/five-in-line, with capturing. If 2-in-a-row of the other color stones are next to one of yours, you can capture by placing one more of your stones on the other side.Assume X=player 1, O=player 2 below:XOOIf one more X is placed to the right of the 2 O's they will be captured. O can avoid this by placing a 3rd O, like so:XOOOYou can not capture 3 or more in a row, or less then 2.But! Assume the following layout:?OOXOOXIf X places just one X at the “?”, he can capture 4 stones in one move:XOOXOOXGet 5-in-line (Exactly 5. No more, no less or it is not a win), or capture at least 10 stones of your opponent.

Vorticon #3 Posted July 14, 2015 Nice job Do you plan on perhaps creating an AI engine for this game by any chance?

ramidavis #6 Posted July 15, 2015 AI is a maybe. Was actually thinking the next modification would be to take this as a base, and make it a Connect6 game.
