New game port: Fairlight

Recommended Posts

Can you please reveal some more details on this?

Sure. It's not like it's some sort of secret project :)

While working on Chimera with Tezz, we've kinda worked out lots of stuff related to isometric 3d map and sprites drawing stuff... Priorities, animation, redrawing only parts that change and other stuff like that. With simple change of graphics and game logic, a lot could already be done.

Combine it with already done map for something like PC batman remake (would need resizing graphics to lower res, lower color count).

Add palblending mode and you get something like this (just a quick hack based on Altered Space gameboy game):

Executable:

alteredspace.xex

My opinion is - A8 deserves much better 3d Iso game than anything that exists out there. Maybe at the end it turns out it's best to use gtia 10 mode or something crazy like that but it should be done.

If years don't catch up with me to early, hands remain able to type, eyes still can separate pixels on screen and children don't take 100% of my time, I'll work on it myself ;)

Looks very promising and good luck with the project :)

You probably know this already, but there is also Space 1999 for Oric (6502 based machine) available here http://space1999.defence-force.org/- may help you with isometric 3d engine.

I would like a port of that game for A8!

Thanks for reminding me! For some reason I always thought Oric used Z80... Would be very nice to have that ported to Atari.

Think that could be a good job for some of our regular 6502 converters ;)

Inside Outing would be really nice to have. Good game with great graphics.

Think that even PMs would be enough for additional color-sprite related stuff...

Had a walk around, looks nice and atmospheric. Hopefully can be speeded up in a few places. After a while the game crashed:

Can you please try to reproduce the crash on Altirra and if reproduced, send me save state for further investigation? Thanks.

Tried on altirra and the XE and did the same things but ok this time. Played again (2nd turn) on the XE and the screen/DL garbaged out again - it happens during the transition between rooms - this was in a different place to before

:)
