Arenafoot #35 Posted August 6, 2015 My experience with the Intellivision goes all the way back to when I was growing up in the 80's. My best friend (who lived directly across the street from me) had an Atari and Intellivision - and I had the Vectrex. We would play AD&D and Night Stalker for hours. Fast forward to now - I just acquired an Intellivision console last November while attending the Houston ArcadeExpo. I was able to get a couple boxed games for it - along with some loose carts too. And this past January, I placed my first order ever for some homebrew games: Stella's Stocking, Stay Frosty 2, & Halo 2600 thru AA. I have never experienced any sort of homebrew game for the Intellivision and would love to try this out as Activision's Chopper Command was a favorite of my best friend and I. I'd love to give Copter Command a try!
slab0meat #36 Posted August 6, 2015 Im really glad you enjoyed the Copter game so much! Oh, more passive-aggressive stuff in the INTV forums. Sad panda. When did my enjoyment of certain games factor into them being sold off, by the way? All homebrews are going, sorry if that upsets you. This is for playing...not reselling! You're welcome. No re-selling Copter Command here!

HunterZero #41 Posted August 9, 2015 Debated whether or not to post this, but in the interest of awareness, here we go... Hopefully you never need this information. This just might save the life of a woman in your life - Your partner. Your mother. I lost my beautiful wife to ovarian cancer four months ago. It is regarded as a silent killer as the symptoms are very vague, and sufferers are very rarely diagnosed in the early stages. Over 80% of cases are not diagnosed until the disease is quite advanced, by which time the survival rates are disturbingly low. At stage 3, the survival rate is around 40%. At stage 4 that drops to below 10%. If the disease is caught early, the survival rate is 80%-90%. So early detection is the best chance. Unfortunately, there is no screening test for ovarian cancer. Cervical cancer tests do not detect ovarian cancer. Family history is not necessarily an indicator that an individual is at risk, however the breast cancer gene defects BRCA1 and BRCA2 increase a woman's risk of ovarian cancer as it does for breast cancer. Even then this defect only contributes to a small number of cases, no more than 10%. Ovarian cancer, bowel cancer and pancreatic cancer don't receive the same awareness or funding as breast cancer but they are far more deadly due to lack of awareness and lack of early detection. Perhaps breast cancer gets the attention because boobs are sexy? The symptoms of ovarian cancer are: - a swollen, bloated abdomen - pressure, discomfort or pain in the abdomen or pelvis - heartburn and nausea - changes in toilet habits (e.g. constipation, diarrhoea, frequent urination due to pressure, increased flatulence) - tiredness and loss of appetite - unexplained weight loss or weight gain - changes in menstrual pattern or postmenopausal bleeding - pain during intercourse As you can see these symptoms could be dismissed as not serious, or mistaken for a less serious condition. In my wife's case, her symptoms were disguised because she had just given birth to our first son. Any aches and pains were dismissed as post-partum. And she was tired because we were new parents. She was diagnosed when he was 5 months old. She breastfed our son until the day she was admitted to hospital. Her surgery lasted 8 hours. She endured multiple rounds of chemo, and for a few months appeared cancer free. But ovarian cancer has a nasty trick - it adapts and becomes resistant to treatment. Repeat surgery is almost never possible as the disease metastasises into small patches. Our son lost his devoted mother at 2 and a half years of age. So understandably I haven't had much time to keep up with home brews. I still like to keep tabs on the forum from time to time to help posters here troubleshoot broken Intys. I enjoy indulging my Intellivision and vintage video game hobby to take my mind off things. And I look forward to sharing my hobby with my son as he grows up, as enjoying video games was such an integral part of my childhood. I'd like Copter Command to be among those memories. Anyway sorry for the long post. Congratulations if you made it this far. Regardless of who wins, please do me a favour and raise awareness of this terrible disease with the women in your life. A disease that has taken the love of my life and the mother from a small boy. - James

+wongojack #46 Posted August 9, 2015 I remember watching the Chopper Command commercial on TV in my superhero pajamas. The burly drill sergeant lookin dude kinda reminded me of Sgt Slaughter. The commercial combined with the fact that the game was about helicopters convinced my little brain that I had to have the game. I begged for it and my parents got it for me. it was actually a bit of a disappointment. I'd never really played defender, so I didn't get the comparison as an 8 year old. To me, Chopper Command was just a simple little helicopter game with bright orange graphics and a cool chopper sound effect. Years later, I got my familiy's original 2600 out and repaired it. The game that I HAD to go back to first was Chopper Command. I eventually discovered a strategy that let me max out the score and it is probably the single biggest and most enjoyable classic gaming feat that I've ever accomplished. Having this excellent updated version of the game for the Intellivision will help me experience those same childhood memories on yet another platform, AND give me a new challenge through which I can connect to that 8 year old from 1984/5. +cmart604 #50 Posted August 11, 2015 reminds me of my christmas carol competition poem of one lonely elf: story teller. Twas the night before christmas and all through the maze Not a ghost was stirring cause I gave him the snowflake daze Presents scattered here and there I've got to get them all so I can get the hell outta here I am but one lonely elf Why do I have to do everything myself I've got to get the presents back to Santa Clause' sled If I am caught by the evil snowman I'm sure to be dead If you hear his blood curdling howl You can be sure that he is on the prowl Sometimes I'm chased by a robot with a laser That makes me look like i got shot with a taser This delicious candy I score one at a time I'm sure christmas will be perfect if all of them I can find So be sure to eat more candy Or you're never going to be that handy I've got 8 caverns I have to explore If I finish them all I might check out 8 more So on haunted hallow, on frosted maze, on candy cove, and icicle lane I cant name them all it's hurting my brain This cavern I'm stuck in is completely insane Trying to outrun these two is really a pain And if I mess up my life will drain But if I finish this hand I was dealt to play I just might get a medal from an elf named DZ-Jay -Pimpmaul69 very well written. I'd forgotten about this. Yay Pimp!
