videogame #1 Posted April 9, 2003 Back in the 80's I heard that atari was planning to make a videogame called "foxbat" for the atari 2600. Does anybody know if the game ever came out or f the name was changed?
slapdash #2 Posted April 9, 2003 To be honest, no one's sure what happened to it... At times it seemed like a sequel to Combat, but when the Combat II proto showed up, that didn't seem right, since a Foxbat is a military jet, but Combat II had no dogfighting. Dunno... Oh, so it was supposed to have been a game made by Atari then?
NovaXpress #4 Posted April 10, 2003 My father worked at Sears back in the day and I used to gte a look at release schedules. They had Foxbat on the list for months, but shortly before release suddenly Raiders of the Lost Ark replaced it on the list. I wondered if Foxbat was a code name to hide the Raiders license. Godzilla #5 Posted April 10, 2003 I remember reading that foxbat got canned when Atari got the indy license, and the code was somehow partially re-cycled into indy
slapdash #6 Posted April 10, 2003 I do seem to recall that Foxbat was a Howard Scott Warshaw title, but I'm not sure WHERE I heard that... If he ended up doing Indy instead, that makes sense, and maybe I asked him or read it in an interview, dunno.
