Why aren't there Atari 2600 clone consoles?

When I think about Atari 2600 clones, I usually think of the Sears Tele-Games Video Arcade and the Coleco Gemini. I actually owned the Coleco Gemini for a short while during the summer of 1985, and it was a pretty interesting system to have around with its joystick/paddle controller combo. I saw the Video Arcade II model in a Sears store in 1982 and mistakenly thought that it was an Atari 5200 clone system that Sears was marketing under license. I still like the look of that particular model, though.

Sears Tele-Games Video Arcade isn't a clone, it is the real thing made by Atari. The Coleco Gemini is definitely a clone though.

That "Activision JV 8900" is really something!! There are a few more shots of it here http://atariage.com/forums/topic/71149-sold-the-activision-console-vj-8900-fs/

A small part of me wishes the Retron77 were more like these clones, instead of "just" another emulation box, but that's OK -- it's neat that the 2600 gets as much attention as it does!
