browsing through lost, old and dusty posts, and I found this one.

D/L'ed the file attached to Ω's post, and got so hooked on this little game that I didn't get to bed until 4:00am (with a 7:00 am delivery this morning, not smart!).

Then found out this is an old version (1.1) and that there is a 2.1 out there complete with editor and other improvements (including the ability to save high score!) that was released as a commercial disk. I've found several dsk copies of it (one from 2012 right here in these forums), but I can't seem to get any of them to work. I'm guessing there's a copy protection problem in it.

Anyway, I can't think of a game - on any platform - that I've become so hooked on so quickly and would love to get the full commercial release if anyone has a working copy or instruction on getting one of the copies out there to work!

...heck, I'd even be more than happy to BUY an original disk if someone has one they'd be willing to sell, although if someone has it, I doubt if they'd part with it easily

Based on a game originally created for the Mac classic, I don't know how Spacesation Pheta passed by unnoticed on the TI for 30 years, when it is easily one of the best platform/puzzler games available on our system of choice. It really should be on everyone's Must-Have list.

Porting something that was designed to operate on a 128k Mac to the TI, and getting it to fit in 27K is an accomplishment all by itself, but for the end result to be such a brilliant game is nothing short of amazing.

I attached a copy of the original manual that I found elsewhere as a tease.

There was no copy protection on the commercial release of this program, so there may be a problem with the disk dumps of it that are online. I think I may have an original copy around here somewhere that I bought BITD. It is definitely one of the better games released for the TI back then. . .

I'm still looking through my disks to see if I have Psyborg. I have originals of some TImagination releases (based on the manuals I found in my binder of 3rd-party manuals), but I haven't found that one in there.

One of the copies I have says "Please insert master disk" (that's as far as that one gets). The disk based doc suggests that one makes a back-up, but that the original master disk will still be required to load the game.

That's why I assumed the software was protected . (although I guess not technically "copy" protection, since you CAN copy it)

By the way - I would still like a compete copy of PSYBORG by TImagination if anyone might have it.

Thanks for this...also wrote to the author (who, believe it or not, still sells the os9 version!) . The biggest difference between to mac version and the TI is that until you move on the mac version, the oxygen doesn't start to count down, giving you time to plan your course. The TI the oxygen starts to get used the minute the screen loads

In the version that started this thread, the oxygen counts slowly enough that you can quickly examine the layout. The one you posted however, the oxygen plummets mighty quick, making it much more of an arcade feel .

Strange stuff... on the one you posted....works fine under Classic99, but on an actual TI it only sees the first 2 levels...only tried the XB loader though, so maybe I'll try it using E/A 5. Wouldn't be the first time I've had trouble with an XB loaded Assembler proggie.

Regardless I truly appreciate your posting it...at least I have something to work with... still shocks me that this game has flown under the radar as it has.

I've been looking for a program that was was offered by TEXCOMP in their freeware disks that they offered in damn near every issue of MICROpendium. It was disk number 129 - CASH DRAWER. I think it would be kind of neat to set up a TI system when I hold my next yard sale and be able to keep track of the MCI.

Anybody got a copy? Or maybe something similar? Point of Sale?

Still looking for PSYBORG by TImagination as well.

I got this one from TexComp back in the day... I'm pretty sure I sent it to the TI Game Shelf at some point. :)

I don't remember how far I was able to get, but it was a pretty cool game. My only complaint is that the time limit created by the oxygen system makes it a bit too frantic to play for long... how could anyone get through 79 screens of that? (Says the guy who did 16 levels of Aperture... in BASIC.)

Somebody bought the master disk set from Tex-Comp off of eBay a few months ago, so the Cash Drawer program may be in that lot (and I'm not sure who ended up with the disks, as the price went a bit insane in that auction).

This is a .DSK image of some old "Terr Ware" games. For Extended BASIC programs they are pretty good. I'm not sure they can be compiled or not. If so, they would individually make some good additions to the FlashROM 99 library of programs.

The programs are:

If they cannot be converted, you'll at least have a few more XB programs for your library. :)

Here is a rather simple E/A 5 program called: Alien Rain

I don't think it's worthy of conversion, but its something to play with for a couple of minutes.

Well, I quite like it. Okay, it's play once and forget, but I actually like these types of games. Inspirational and fun also.

It's simple. Straightforward. It's intuitive, like you know what to do. And it's responsive - just as an EA5 can and should be. Too many XB games suffer from being less responsive, missing collisions etc.

Many games these days have the instructions incorporated into the gameplay itself and evolve from there. But also, many games still require you to read instructions or a manual.

I tried to let my Snake Plissken evolve by introducing stuff step by step and with a short message. I will try and use this approach much more. Like dragging people into a game. A shop between levels with upgrades is also something coming up.

Alien Rain is simple and the logic behind is (probably) simple. Simple games can be great. If you know exactly what you want to do, then I should be able to program something like this in less than an hour. But often you see other design possibilities and things tend to take longer. This one could probably be done in 2K and then what to do with the rest of the 8K ROM ...

I like the idea and layout of how to have many sprites on screen without running into the 4-sprite-horizontal-limit. Simple, but the basic idea has potential, and yes, it's nothing new.

Good choice of colors like TI Invaders and Parsec. Good animation like TI Invaders and Munch Man. Overall, rather good actually.

;)
