+Philsan
I remembered not to have Beef Drop, an awesome BurgerTime conversion, and I bought it: https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=297 It's one of the few A8 homebrews not free (like Tempest Xtreem and Xenophobe) and it's worth the (nice) price ($30). I realized that it's 10 year old and perhaps some new A8 users don't know it. A demo version is available here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/64887-beef-drop-8-bit-test-version-with-some-pal-adjustments/?p=802215 Video: https://youtu.be/XOOPADe9fQM
+MrFish
It is a nice game and still resonably priced (I think it used to be $25). I was surprised to see this game on Homesoft re-titled as "Burger Time" without any credit to the author. It says it was converted from the 5200, but I don't remember seeing it released like that for the 5200. +Philsan
Yes, A8 Homesoft version seems the 5200 version converted to A8, with titlescreen changed. A8 Beef Drop and Homesoft 5200 conversion are not the same. No best five high scores, no characters presentation, different score font. +MrFish
Yes, indeed you are right, there are a few differences. In fact, also, the items that appear in the center screens (for adding pepper) are flickering in this file version and not in Beef drop. Where is this version on the 5200 available from though? I've only ever seen Beef Drop in the store, in the same form as for the 8-bits. Was this just an earlier release by Ken for the 5200 only? +Philsan
Here are A8 and 5200 demo versions: http://atari.kensclassics.org/a8games.html There's a game with your username too!
kenfused
Note also somewhere here on the forums there is a newer test version that has dropped bad guys spawn from where they are dropped to like the arcade and 7800 version. It has some audio bugs I never fixed though. I also did done changes to the sprite multiplexer but wasn't really happy with the changes. Don't think I ever got any feedback on the release
+MrFish
Here are A8 and 5200 demo versions: http://atari.kensclassics.org/a8games.html Well, whatever the case, they probably shouldn't have removed Ken's name. There's a game with your username too! Haha... yeah, I'd seen that before. Totally coincidental.
