a8isa1
I purchased my 800 in November of 1980 (unless it was 1979). It was a 16K model with an 8K module thrown in by the vendor for free. It was a CTIA/OS A model originally. A friend upgraded both for me. Also swapped out a bad keyboard. All upgrades were around 1983. ClausB
Don't forget to post the 3-digit date code! It's ink-stamped on the label or gold-stamped on the case bottom.
KBRpilot
Here's a shot of the label from my NTSC 800, I'm not quite sure how the date stamp is read but assume the 2 at the end means 1982. It is one of the models that you can remove the memory slots cover by moving two tabs and all the ram and the rom boards are fully encased. (It was ripped when I got it, though I think that's just the typical address and patent stuff that is missing.) Here are the numbers in case the photo is lost someday (I'm new to this forum and don't know how photos are attached directly yet so this is from my photo on photobucket;) GTAI Date Stamp: 382 No. 366633
firestorm
Its PAL UK version I bought 4 years ago on ebay with 16kb cased RAM and PAL ROM. Can anybody tell me when it was made? adam242
I bought another one this week... (yes, I know I have a problem!) 472 389740 AW385819 11-18 And I found the label for #3 mentioned in my earlier post.. It's damaged, but I think it reads 342 362084. Maybe 362094? I'm just posting it in the spirit of keeping the list complete.

+DrVenkman
OK, my turn... 800.jpg NTSC unit, freshly rebuilt, awaiting installation of my Incognito. Nice! A fairly early 16K model that was built when the GTIA was new enough that it was still called out on the label. Muzz73
Thanks! It's in nice condition, too. My favorite A8! Granted, most of the wear & tear goes on my 800XL... but once the Incognito goes in, it's never leaving my desk again!
+DrVenkman
If I had an Incognito, one of my 800's would be my main machine as well (for now it's a U1MB-equipped 800XL, at least until I can get the U1MB to be stable in one of my 1200XL's). I actually have two 800's, one of which has an after-market vintage 32K board in it along with an Atari 16K board. I'd LOVE to get a Bit3 80-column board to stick in that last slot someday ...
luckybuck
Hi together, If you all have those old machines, please do the community a giant leap. As of 2016, we do not have these 2 OSs: https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Rarity%2010 •) Atari OS Rev. B (PAL) for Atari 400/800 from 1981 ; PRINT PEEK (65528) <RETURN> => 34 •) OPERATING SYSTEM 255 for Atari 400/800 ; PRINT PEEK (65528) <RETURN> => 255 If you receive 34 or 255, your Atari 400/800 is very, very value!!! :-)))
