16K, CTIA, tin contacts, OS A.

Embossed numbers are 1 80 2378, printed label is 180 1278 - not sure why the embossed and printer numbers come close but don't match.

Does anyone know if the 16K 800's (like the above) shipped with 1 x 16K board or 2 x 8K?   Also, any idea when Atari stopped using tin contacts and switched to gold?

Is there any significant difference between 800 motherboards?  I have a revision 9 with white/light grey cartridge slots and a rev A with black ones...

I know my 49/79 800 came with 2 tin 8K boards (which were professionally upgraded to 16K in the day). I don't know what my 17/80 800 came with though, so I can't answer.

If you read through this whole thread you might find such details which did not go into the summary list.

I've migrated the list to Google Sheets for easier maintenance. See post #1.

https://atariage.com/forums/topic/242227-calling-all-800s/

Please check your entries for accuracy, in case I made errors in transcription or copy/paste. For those of you with ??/?? dates, please try to find the 3-digit date code, either stamped in ink on a label or imprinted in the plastic case, rear underside. Please post any corrections/additions here.

I did a quick scan of the serial numbers after sorting by that column, and I think that these two are the closest siblings:

08/83 eBay/santoscork 800 NTSC 449216 083
08/83 tep392 800 NTSC 449281 083 AW 470545-2-24

Only 65 apart, they almost certainly share a birthday!  🎂

Just got mine within the last 2 weeks, so I haven't played around with it too much yet. Supposedly from a former Atari employee too, which is nice as the ram was maxed out, lol.
