DZ-Jay #52 Posted September 20, 2015 I'm still thinking that you're kidding... I'm pretty sure Piggy Bank is real. In fact, I'm pretty sure it'll be done in time and available at PRGE, that it will be more than playable (in spite of its compressed development time), and even fun. -dZ. +intellivotion #53 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) Holy crap, I couldn't believe it! In this case I have to approach more seriously the matter. What if I can not physically be present at PRGE?? Will there be a way to get it? I know, I know ... obsessive-compulsive disorder, and AA is like a "chaise longue". That's a question for BBWW, but if I understand the point of this effort at all is to highlight the absurdity of the Blix release, and I think he already mentioned that only 60 30 units will be produced. -dZ. +freewheel #55 Posted September 20, 2015 Something tells me the ROM may be released. For free. Pretty quickly. But with uncrackable DRM!! (cue evil laughter)

The absurdity was well documented a year ago, repeating the absurd act again, for whatever the end game is, is pointless.
Kiwi #58 Posted September 20, 2015 Four weeks is not enough time to make a game. It can be if your programmer is under pressure. I did one in 24 hour, just for see how much I can cram to produce something within that time limit. Also, without much sleep to add. http://atariage.com/forums/blog/340/entry-10540-24-hour-pure-game-making/ It was playable with slowdown, occasionally VRAM screen corruption, no sounds, and none working sprite flickering routine. I did go back and fixed those issues. I might do it again on December 31st to submit my entry to IntyBASIC contest.

This was my 24 hour (More like 30 or so) contest entry for AC2013 :- http://atariage.com/forums/topic/211029-ac2013-speed-coding-contest/ Coded in a big hall with a bunch of other coders using all kinds of platforms. Lots of fun. The only preparation I did was to have nonner242 make some graphics before the contest (we knew the theme).

Sure, it wasn't strictly from scratch, since it was based on a limited framework I had developed already; but most of the actual game functionality, including animations, AI, tuned hand-controller handling, scoring, game mechanics, sound effects, music, and actual story and game-play, were all developed in two weeks. -dZ. +freewheel #61 Posted September 20, 2015 I could easily knock out a playable, somewhat fun game in a month thanks to IntyBASIC. Hell, I've made a couple of simple games in a day. I entertained the thought quite seriously for PRGE - people do seem willing to buy *anything* if they think it's limited - but I'm just not that cynical. My loss, because if I kept a few copies to myself, I could sell them for $500 each next year. Do that 10 times a year at various cons (pun intended) and it's almost decent income for the time spent. BBWW #62 Posted September 20, 2015 The absurdity was well documented a year ago, repeating the absurd act again, for whatever the end game is, is pointless. I could not agree more...except I'm taking my anger and channeling it. I've stopped whining about BLIX, that should at least make you happy. I'm having fun with this, others are too. This is supposed to be fun. It's a 35 year old console, it's not like I'm killing anyone. As I have said, I urge no one to buy this game! Boycott it, slam the idea, nail me to a Pixel Cross it's all good. It will leave more to sell on eBay next year. :-)
