Problem with Syzygy order...

Recommended Posts

A little over a month ago, I ordered a cartridge guide to replace the old cracked cart guide in my 7800. Thanks Activision.

The part I purchased is here:

www.syzygycompany.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=52

I never received the item. Here is a quote from the order form email.

It says to reply to the email if I have issues. I did and got a failure delivery notification two days later. The website is now completely busted and any attempts to check out or log in result in failure, and elements within the webpage are behind a login wall. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I guess the $10 isn't worth fighting over but fact is I ordered this item and did not receive it. Is it too much to ask for a simple cartridge guide???

Anyone have info of whom I should contact? Does Curt run the store or is it someone else? Thanks...

Got the details of my CC charge from the bank. They have a NY phone number, 917 area code. Guess I'll be making a call to them...

You'll probably need to reverse the charges. I ordered a couple of the classic2 joysticks back in April or May and have never heard a single peep beyond the initial order confirmation. If you try to contact Curt Vendel (the 'proprietor' of Syzygy), I'll be stunned if you get a response. The general consensus, at least this year, is that you can place orders and your card will be charged, but it just goes into a black hole never to be seen or heard from again. I tried to contact him very politely in a number of ways (Syzygy website, Syzygy Facebook page, and direct message here), and the most response I got was my post to his Facebook wall got deleted. No message back to me, nothing. Just deleted. That pretty much told me all I needed to know.

I did reverse the charges on my order and it went through without a hiccup, so in the end no harm done other than wasting the time I spent dealing with this company. It's just a shame people choose to do business this way. If he's going to continue accepting orders (and charging credit cards) but he can't be bothered to ship products, I wish he'd just shut the website down completely. It's rude, and really, it's criminal.

It is sad that it has come to this. :_(

I really want the XM to come out, but even if it does, why would I trust the website with $150+ if they can't fulfill an under $10 order? Is it too late to reverse the charge? It's not showing in my online statement anymore as it's older than 3 months...

This thread won't end well. What's sad really is that this keeps happening, and then the threads get deleted after a flame war.

Probably not. But these are facts and they are concerning. Buyer beware. Bashing the facts and flaming about stuff does nothing good for anyone and does not change the facts. What changes is business owners taking money give a product thats called a fair deal. I think everyone can understand that no matter where you stand.

One thing I do understand is that one user in this thread has posted nothing to AtariAge other than griping about the same dead horse.

Well, here's my experience with Legacy Engineering/Syzergy.

I ordered a 2600 USB joystick kit about 6/7 years ago. Never got it. Since then I've gotten a divorce and moved, so that is a write-off. For all I know, it could have been delivered. I changed email providers with the divorce, so I was locked out of previous conversations.

About 5 years ago I ordered another one, and I definitely did not get it. I've tried talking to Curt about it a few times, and he's always said stuff like its shipping right away, etc. I've kept all documentation and correspondence this time.

Frankly, I give up. It isn't a huge sale, and he's got other issues. That's fine. But I've been lied to and despite the fact that he's an Atari demigod, he'll never be cool in my books.

I'm still waiting for a new 7800 High Score cart (the first one sent through was faulty). Once the XM is out, I'm sure I'll ask Curt about it and hopefully get it...

This.

Don't promote conspiracy theories. Nobody deletes threads like this, they may get locked, but the content isn't deleted.

x2. There is no conspiracy, nor libel going on here.

I had a genuine problem with an order and based on feedback, others who ordered product have not recieved theirs either, so I'm not alone. Curt is welcome to come in here to make ammends, but unless he rectifies the situation, I am done with Syzygy.com. If that means doing without an XM, so be it. I'm not risking $150 if he can't be bothered to fulfill a < $10 order.

Currently the website is completely broken so it doesn't look to good.

It has been brought to my attention that I set the record straight on my experience with Curt on a different post, but forgot about this one. Oops, I don't like leaving things like that, so... fixed!

"A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

Okay, it was nine years ago. I ordered a USB joystick conversion kit from Legacy Engineering. Curt got sick. I got a divorce and moved cities. Changed email accounts. My computer died and I did a file recovery onto a new one. Took awhile to find my electronic receipts. Blah blah blah.

It didn't stop me from grumbling publicly about it (and him) a few times over the years in this forum. About a month ago, I said something snarky...not proud of it, but at least it got Curt and I talking via PM.

Today I got a package in the mail...not the conversion kit (because after so long I doubt he has them anymore), but a brand new USB Atari stick. Works great! I'm a happy boy again.

So, sorry I was a dick about it Curt. You came through for me, so I thank you."

Just an FYI, sorry for the late reply. Sometime last year (I forget the date iirc), Curt made good on his promise and delivere dmy order. In fact I received two cart guides. :) I am aware the thread hasn't been updated in some time but if you have any outstanding orders from Curt's website or elsewhere (besides the XM module), send him a PM so he can fix things up.
