Mind Master #2 Posted April 11, 2003 The fact that nobody's replied goes to prove that the Sinistar is the most feared of all video villains...
Cruiser7 #3 Posted April 16, 2003 MM, it has been over 20 years since I started playing this game, and I still fear Sinistar. The only hints I can impart to you is get those sinibombs as soon as possible, destroy those doggone tanks so they don't cheap shot you, and then get to a clutter-free area. Watch your radar, and as soon as Sinistar is about to come onto your screen and kick your butt, fly directly away from him and release those sinibombs. Sinistar tends to beeline right towards you, so unless there are obstructions, he should fly straight into the sinibombs. Just pray you have enough of them to kill him before he reaches you or one of those doggone tanks shoots you.

NE146 #5 Posted April 16, 2003 Sinistar IS one of the hardest games around. Matter of fact, I personally think it's unmasterable (unlike Defender or Robotron which are hard but plenty masterable ) .. but I digress. Anyway, if you want some Sinistar tips.. what better place than Joystick magazine. Here are some great scans with some good tips on what you can expect. http://www.stormaster.com/RGVAC-Manuals/Jo...83/sep83-08.JPG http://www.stormaster.com/RGVAC-Manuals/Jo...83/sep83-09.JPG http://www.stormaster.com/RGVAC-Manuals/Jo...83/sep83-10.JPG http://www.stormaster.com/RGVAC-Manuals/Jo...83/sep83-11.JPG
Mind Master #6 Posted April 17, 2003 Sinistar is unique because the namesake villain is actually faster than your ship. That means when he's on your tail, you either blow him up with sinibombs or get consumed right there - there's no escaping like in most other videogames. I've always had one complaint about Sinistar. The scream he emits when he eats you is the same one he emits when you destroy him. I wish the scream when he's destroyed sounded different so I could feel more triumphant hearing it (Sinistar creates a huge desire to kick his butt). Who's the psychopath that recorded that voice? "Be-ware! I live"...
Inky #7 Posted April 17, 2003 Best play sinistar on an emulator, kick it down to the easiest difficulty, and have it award a free life every 1000 points. That's what I do.
NE146 #8 Posted April 17, 2003 Best play sinistar on an emulator, kick it down to the easiest difficulty, and have it award a free life every 1000 points. That's what I do. But then in most cases when you play it via an emulator.. you can only move in 8 directions ..I think if you use a psx analog pad on your pc though.. it fixes that and gives you some kind of movement freedom similar to the arcade's 49 directions. Anyone have any experience with this?

liquid_sky #10 Posted April 17, 2003 Well, its not exactly a psx joystick, but I have an analog joystick, and i can attest to the fact that the game is so much easier when played with the correct equipment... its still hard as hell, but a little more forgiving
