Opry99er
Picked up this curiosity today: Gameplay is good, some really inspired enemy graphics. Overall a win at $2, I'd say. Anyone here dig this one?
high voltage
Excellent game, a few 20th Century Fox games shined.
Opry99er
I am assuming it is fairly common, but I haven't seen this one before. Really hoping to come across some more gems like this one... They're what make this hobby fun.
Nutsy Doodleheimer
Turmoil is an excellent game! That and Bank Heist are the best 20th Century Fox 2600 games in my opinion.
+sramirez2008
It's one of my favorites. Picked mine up a few years ago. Great game play with colorful graphics and rapid fire. I like the sound of the rapid fire and the colorful display between levels reminds of the SoundX Dazzle Display. BTW, the b/w switch allows you to pause the game. Watch out for those tanks! Opry99er
Thanks for the tip on the pause button!!! The tanks are tough, can't destroy em. The little circular enemies that just sit at the edge of the screen until you get close, then it fires and bounces back and forth within the cell... That guy beasted me pretty hard until I figured out what the hell he was doing. Yea, visually a very good game--- love the 'between-level' effect. Turmoil.JPG ... I use to play the game a lot back in the day. Knowing about the pause function would have helped me. Should have read the manuals back in the day I guess. Opry99er
Wow, 13,880 score--- got to the 'blind' level. TOO COOL!!! With the sound effects, it really feels like you are really blasting alien bad guys to hell!!!
+sramirez2008
This is a great game, that doesn't get much mention. Thanks for bringing it up Opry99er.
Opry99er
Sure!! I like posting about new games I find that I haven't played before... Gives folks a chance to replay it if it jogs a memory. BTW, I discovered you CAN destroy the tanks... Just have to shoot them from behind. (See Kelly's heroes, Donald Sutherland, Shermans vs. Tigers)
AtariTexas
Great game. Found mine boxed with manual at a used game store. Had no price so I asked the store employee and he said how about 4 dollars. That was a no brainer.

The "little circular enemies" you described above are actually prizes and worth a lot of points if you pick them up before they turn into cannonballs. H.E.R.O.
Mark Turmell is one of the most underrated programmers of all time. I'd put him right up there with Eugene Jarvis & David Crane.
Opry99er
Doubled my score plus some. 36,810. This one is going to get some major play around my house, I think.
fiddlepaddle
I always liked this game a lot; it felt to me like the Atari version of Tempest (one of the greatest games of all time).
24Fanatic365
Nice snag, Opry99er! I think Turmoil is one of, if not THE hidden gem of 2600 games. Hectic gameplay, colorful graphics, great sound, and a great selection of enemies combine to make an excellent gaming experience. Hard to believe this one came out so long ago! sprazzi
Great game! I play it with my tac-2 joystick for better results. Better limit gameplay to 20-30 minutes per sessions, because it works hard on elder men joints
Yoss
Definitely one of the solid games that goes under the radar most of the time.
p.opus
Yes. This is how you create a game that has many of the familiar aspects of an arcade game (cough... Tempest) but work within the constraints of system to provide the person the same visceral experience within the limitations of the platform. Opry99er
Yes... Very Tempest-ish. I knew I liked it for some reason.
