+5-11under #26 Posted September 21, 2015 There's no way I could answer that without seeing the clone and the schematic. So I'll go out on a limb and say this works with the Colecovision's original hardware only and all your games that are originally for the Coleco. If your talented enough to build a coleco clone then I'm sure you would implement your own video output. That would probably be easier then this mod to tell you the truth. If you used a fpga you could probably implement most of the Coleco and the video circuit and just have a few support components. It will not work with the Atari adapter because that bypasses the Coleco's video circuitry completely and goes right to the RF circuit. Building a ColecoVision isn't too difficult for me. In my case, I'm using mostly the same chips as a standard ColecoVision. For video, however, I've been using either an F18A in place of the TMS9928A, or I've been using a TMS9928A (except using latches and SRAM instead of DRAM for the video memory). No FPGA/CPLD at this point, but that could change in the future (but likely only for glue logic). HDMI, however, is beyond my current capabilities. Basically I'm wondering if this could be used as another option for me, besides VGA via F18A or component via TMS9928A.

Without going off on a tangent I guess if you wanted to dig this mod out of a modded Colecovision you could probably get it to work. Why you would want to I have no idea. If you want to start a new thread I'd be happy to offer my thoughts on how to implement Coleco hardware in FPGA and glue logic in say a xilinx xc9536. AtariBrian #28 Posted September 21, 2015 Would there be a way to get the Atari module to also be modded to use the hdmi ? That would be really cool !
+5-11under #29 Posted September 21, 2015 Without going off on a tangent I guess if you wanted to dig this mod out of a modded Colecovision you could probably get it to work. Why you would want to I have no idea. Because I want HDMI capability for my CV 1.2 project. However, without adding a component to HDMI converter, it would likely take me about 3 years to add properly generated HDMI to the CV. Well, I guess I won't worry about it for now, because the initial project hasn't been completed yet anyway.
0078265317 #30 Posted September 21, 2015 I'm also interested! Would love to see the games in HDMI. Thanks for this! But the games wont actually upscale will they? They will still look blocky or whatever won't they?
PhoenixMoonPatrol #31 Posted September 23, 2015 Was close to having an rgb mod for my system but glad i waited. Yes I'd be interested in this. Let us know the details if you decide to give it a green light!
