Six-player X-Men Cabinet

Recommended Posts

Local guy is selling one of these for $2500, claims it's super rare. (Yeah, it's old too)

What can anyone tell me about this particular version of the machine? Is it that rare? Is the price reasonable if it's in good condition? Is it a beast to maintain?

Any info is appreciated.

Not sure on rarity, the game in general is very common. 6 far less than the 4 though. Issue would be it's two CRT monitors and six sets of buttons and sticks to maintain, though beyond that it's internals are pretty common and durable.

The main issue is they're the size of a Volkswagen. Like, prohibitively large.

I've seen working ones go for $350. They're hard to move, literally and figuratively, because of the size.

Yeah, this would be going into a business, so space isn't an issue, but transport will be.

This thing is a beast. I would hate to move one.

$2500 seems overly optimistic. You might see it go decently if everything lined up (right collector, right location, etc) but the size makes this a tough one to shift if you dont have collectors in your area.

They are rare but not amazingly so. I've seen a few over the years. I personally wouldn't pay more than $350 - $500 for one.. and even then thats assuming i'd want to dedicate the space to it (I wouldn't).

Awesome advice, everyone. Thank you very much. The price tag seems astronomical, honestly, but the guy was swearing the 6 stick version was super rare. I've been doing this long enough to know a sales pitch when I hear one, but I don't know arcades as well as I would like.

You find the six stick version much less often because collectors don't want to part with them. I can't vouch for the price though, I'm really not sure what they sell for on average. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a $2k+ game, but I could also be wrong.
