Trooper Galactus #1 Posted October 6, 2015 Hey all, I just showed up out of nowhere about a week ago so I figured I might as well introduce myself. Name's Ben and I've been an avid player of video games for over thirty years, though only a real collector about the last ten. I picked up a CIB Jaguar on eBay about three or four years ago with a dozen games, and only recently acquired the Jaguar CD CIB. I currently have over 40 games total, and am rounding out my collection while searching for good homebrews. My initial experience with the Jaguar was reading about it in Electronic Gaming Monthly back in the early-mid 90s, and seeing a small section of wall space in Babbage's/Electronics Boutique dedicated to it. At the time, I was in high school and didn't have the money to blow on another system; my SNES had more than enough to keep me busy. But I was always intrigued by the power the Jaguar had to offer, and was doubly enamored with an acual Alien vs. Predator game, which to that point was the first attempt of any kind to spin off the comic mini-series. Much as I wanted to have one, none of my friends or kids in the neighborhood had one, and it was largely relegated to the realm of status symbol amongst the gaming crowd in my area. I remember a lot of the unfavorable reviews and retrospectives, and after owning the system and playing the games, I can say some of it was justified, but a lot of the negativity was undeserved. My biggest criticism of the Jaguar is it was double the cost and quadruple the power (supposedly) of the 16-bit systems, but the games did not reflect that enough. I could see an argument for saying there's a 10-20% improvement in graphics and sound over its 16-bit counterparts, but that's not enough for the kind of premium demanded or lend gravitas to the advertisements' boasts. Much as I feel like the Jaguar could have been much better, I've enjoyed several games immensely and look forward to revisiting some of the library for a second look. I've enjoyed jumping into this forum to hear new stories and share different views of the system. I expect to get more active on the 2600 and Lynx boards as well. Look forward to further interaction with everybody here!

Thanks for the heads up! I've been to a couple of those sites, and I already have Elansar and Philia! Is Another World another version of Out of this World? If so, incredible game (and stupid difficult).
